Was Pavlik really 111 degrees four days before the Hopkins fight?

ESB will lose a couple dozen members after this fight and about 50 after Wald/Haye.

I know that he's no Pavlik nor does he have Pavlik's insane power. Froch is a decent fighter at best and what's keeping me nervous here isn't Froch being another Pavlik or anything similar, not at all. It's just the way Jermain has been performing lately and his mentality towards boxing in general. To me he just seems semi done with the sport, he seems more like a part time fighter with the way he performs than the Taylor I'm used to. If it wasn't for that I would be laughing at the thought of Froch even coming close to winning the fight based on Froch's ability.

Still I'm sticking with pipe wrenched in this one and fully expect Taylor to impress and hope he takes it beyond that all the way to Kessler, we all know Taylor has the tools for it, I just hope the mentality is there.

This is a very simple fight for JT. For the first 8 rounds, blister and move; keep Froch swinging at the places he used to be.

Later on, when Stamina may become an issue, go to the tale of the tape. Froch is NOT bigger than Taylor. Nor has Froch been in with anything that remotely resembles Pavlik or Hopkins, two guys that are very good at bullying. Jermain has been there and done that. In the late rounds all Jermain needs to do is fire 3-4 punch combinations and then clinch. Force a break and do it again. May not be the most excting fight plan, but like Nazim said; "You don't have to fight the way people want you to. what you have to do is win." All we need is a solid perfomance from JT, and Froch CANNOT win.

That's what I'm hoping to see though Taylor tends to try too hard to satisfy the crowd sometimes and it always gets to him in fights, just hope it doesn't end up being another nightmare.

How the hell could you have believed a human had a 111 temperature? Hopkins weight of 187 is false as well. He was 7 pounds heavier than kelly, not 16 lbs.

Hopkins would have been ridiculously sloppy at 187... after weighing in at 170!

There's your double standard. If you want to be critical, fine; no-one can say that being ill really was or wasn't a factor. But apply your standard consistently and say the same about Cotto, and admit he's got no heart and got broken down by a hungrier, tougher, relentless fighter.

    On the nose.

    Taylor lacks intensity.

But hasn't Taylor ALWAYS somewhat lacked intensity.

He's admitted on a number of occasions that boxing to him is just a job and he doesn't follow the sport at all. The thing is Carl Froch is really the same way.

Yes, Taylor has always lacked intensity in my view.

I don't agree Froch has the same problem, or just views boxing as a job.

Basically, this is why Froch's chances are so good. If Taylor shells up and Froch can get it right, Froch will win.

Froch admitted though in an interview that he doesn't follow boxing outside of his own division.

Personally I see what you're saying. I think the biggest difference is boxing intelligence. If Taylor fights smart he wins this easily. I just don't think he will fight smart. Or perhaps I should say smart enough to stay away from Froch's power.

I think there's a difference between being a fan and loving the game. Froch has intensity in the ring.

    I think it's a very interesting fight.
