Bump, I've been looking closer at Jack's resume and he looks stellar. I think that he's quite underrated in P4P debates, he fought consistently across divisions and had some very strong names on his resume.

New York Jack O’Brien was distantly related to Kid New York, who fought out of Philly, and who, sadly, was killed in the ring by Tex Colorado, the Arizona Assassin.

You ever see Frank Klaus vs George Carpentier? 18 rounds (iirc?) of the underrated MW ever. Really someone who should be looked into if you haven't.

I think I've seen parts of this fight. Burns vs O'Brian in full length is something I didn't know that exist. Have you watched this whole fight?

Most of it, it's a massive chunk of the fight but it misses out the ending.

another dumb dumb , but I go over these posts so the next guy doesn;t take what dumb dumb says as gospel. Dempsey did set up his shots what Dempsey did was bait you throw your shots, either he crouched(and properly to the side not bend over forward) and when you aimed for the head he countered(look at the Brennan match near the start) or when you jabbed when he was up right he would outside slip lead hook to the body (beginning of the carpienter fight) it looked like he was not setting anything up cuz he tried to do these things the same you punched. He was a come forward countering pressure fighter!

From what I've watched so far, O'Brien made a far better fight than the edited down version shows. He gets Burns to walk right into a lot of his punches.

Having watched it, I'm really not convinced about it being fixed, then Burns double crossing him

O'Brien fough off the back foot, but in the first half was pretty willing to engage, he was clearly trying to get Burns to walk onto shots. He had a fair bit of success Burns look like an idiot at times. He spends a lot of about the third quarter just running away. He lead more again towards the end, but he seems to have slowed enough that he's having a lot less success, and maybe just Burns getting used to his awkward punches, and is actually getting countered himself a fair bit. I think a lot of it was that he tired, O'Brien fought a lot of short fights, and going such a long distance with a strong, aggressive fighter like Burns can't have been easy.

It's always interesting seeing a fight where hitting on the break is allowed (straight MoQ rules), Burns takes advantage of that pretty often.

I don't like O'Brien style, but I wouldn't say that he was a bad fighter. Burns, who was quite excellent fighter himself, struggled to make any impact for majority of the fight. O'Brien was the kind of fighter who would make you look bad no matter how good you trully are.

I'd like to see O'Brien vs Fitzsimmons first fight, it seems that Bob did far better job on solving Jack's odd style.

This is a good fight and there is reasons that philly looked odd in the fight( I have analyzed half the fight and have notes) Burns himself was no slouch. O'Brien and Burns are very technical and very solid he can compete in any era.
