Arum admitted under oath to paying Bobby Lee $100,000 to have his fight with Axel Schultz sanctioned for the IBF title, a shot which Schultz absolutely didn't deserve. There's nothing there about fixing any results in George's favour. Klompton2 is full of ****.
I believe that Foreman (1) peaked in the first Frazier fight .. If you watch him in that fight he really was a beautiful destroyer .. sharp, controlled, focused . not the wild swinging madman he was at certain times early in his career or later .. He kept his hands up , threw a terrific jab, moved around the ring and threw murderous shots with precision .. after the fight he believed his own press .. he was wild as hell against Roman. He was not great against Norton but simply had the perfect strengths for the deer in headlights Norton .. and the Ali fight proved it all as he fell apart , fighting an all time stupid fight .. it just shows how much the entail aspect of the game is so important .. I think the 1973 Foreman had the tools to be an all time great , top five guy instead of a a monster that would be feast of famine predicated upon match up ..
Foreman lucked out in his comeback too. Holyfield and Bowe were the best heavyweights of the early 90s which was when his second career peaked. He wasn't gonna beat either. Then 3 things happened 1) Holyfield hurt his shoulder and might have also had a heart condition, so he lost to a lesser Moorer 2) Foreman got a title fight he didn't deserve after losing to Morrison. 3) He caught Moorer with one punch after losing the whole fight.
Horse ****. He brings that amateur tough man act into the ring with guys like Arreola and he gets stung.
Neither extreme is true. Foreman was an ATG; other fighters who were lited in myyriad ways, speed, boxing ability, defense, size-Dempsy, Rocky-were ATGs, & Ali had more flas than you can shake a stick at. No infighting, no blocking or nparrying a jab, no great power, leaning away from a punch, head hunting despite no KO punch... You can be amongst the greatest ever IF your total package, power, endurance, pressure, toughness, chin...is good enough. But some great fighters could beat Foreman at his peak, even if few, especially if he fought a stupid fight!
You're out of your mind. Arum would lie to the Virgin Mary herself under oath so that means nothing! Foeman was a beast with a seek and destroy attitude. Nothing he did during his career rather it be part 1 or part 2 was nothing short of great. Anyone who is a 2 time HW champ (and the fact that he did it at 45) just cant be that overrated.
http://articles.philly.com/2000-08-17/sports/25595245_1_ibf-axel-schulz-boxing-promoter This article is probably what griffo alluded to. If there is more, I can't find mention of it online.
49-0. That's the only thing this board need know. It should be the answer to every question and the response to every topic. Thread over. Board over. Internet over.
I see what your saying but at the same time that may have something to do with Frazier`s style of coming right to his opponent. Joe was also a crouching fighter that bent right into George`s thunderous uppercuts. Probably a little bit of both being true.
