This is apropos of nothing, but I must ask, what role is "hamburger" performing in that locution? Is this another autocorrect mishap, or is this some metaphor I'm not following? I don't mean to bust your balls over what is probably just a trivial typo, but this is a very odd sequence of words that leaves me scratching my head.
I do believe Foreman was slightly overrated. His resume has lot of padding in it, both his first career and his second. Someone stated it as Green George and Old George if they could be combined you may get the best George. I agree. He fought dumb against Ali and very sloppy. Young followed the box blueprint and he gassed again. Lyle was one good punch from stopping him. if he trained harder and had a better game plan he had all the tools to be better than he was which is a scary thought. Liston who George is often compared with, imo defeated better opposition and was more consistent than George.
You seem angry. And the post about Foreman not Ali. And insulting others hiding behind a key board and computer screen? Really?
Without a doubt it is a troll thread. George foreman has much better wins than Liston, is greater than Liston and probably would **** liston against the ropes caause he was bigger, stronger, got a better chin and got powe power with any hand. Don't forget to mention the Classic history of a "12 "years old foreman and his sparring sessions with liston and use it to make an argument for liston lol. And walcott with his crappy chin would be lucky if he could see the round 3 with foreman.. Foreman is a top 10 hw and tyson said that he(tyson) would have beaten louis prime vs prime but he did not know if he could have beaten prime foreman... It should say to you a lot about george.. No...foreman is not overrated
I think George could beat Liston as well but it's a good fight. I wouldn't count either man out. As for the better resume I picked Liston but I see a case for George. Liston has Patterson 2x, Machen, Folley, Williams 2x, Valdez, Foreman has Frazier 2x, Norton, Moorer, Cooney, Peralta They both beat Wepner they both lost to Ali. Liston waited a long time for his shot and cleaned out the division as he waited. Foreman had a much longer career but in his second career he either lost to top 10 fighters save Moorer or was swerved away from them. They usually rate very close to each other on lists
I don't know why you mention guys like willliams ,machen or folley or valdez for liston but you don't mention ron lyle for george... Or qawi, machen or folley are you kidding me?these guys are nothing... It is a proof about as weak was his record... Floyd patterson would die of a heart attack with George being in front of him. Joe frazier x2.. Undefeated.. Top 10 of all time.. Ken norton.. Hall of famer in his peak one of the only 2 men who did beat ali when was still good. These 2 guys are better than any guy in the record of liston... You can make no case for liston having better resume than foreman... NO CASE
I should not have left Lyle off. Error on my part. You are underrating Machen and to an Extent Folley as for Norton he folded against every big puncher he ever faced. I believe he is overrated. Frazier was better than Patterson yes but Patterson was still very good. For something like 75 wins for George you will many opponents with .500 records or very pedestrian win percentages. His record is very padded. Hence why you do see some all time lists where Liston rates above George.
I think it is fair to say that at the peak of his rampage, he was a little overrated. Before he fought Ali, people believed that he was the long term future of the division, and overlooked the fact that they had bot seen him in with a world class technician. Now that we look back in hindsight, he is tricky to rate. He arguably has the two best wins in the history of the heavyweight division, twenty years apart no less! Outside of these two astounding wins, his resume is a little thin in both eras, and missed a lot of opponents who would have answered questions. I also think that he was mismanaged in his first career, and could perhaps have been brought along better. Anyway, now that we have sadly lost Ali, he is the grand old man of the heavyweight division. The man to who the current champions will bow their heads, whenever he walks in the room.
Yes, nobody should take that from Foreman. He is the last man standing of that great era. He deserves the title of grand old man. He earned it.
Foreman I slightly overrated. Foreman II underrated. I reckon comeback Foreman would topple a lot of high profile names over the past 30 years. You're dead meat if you don't have a solid degree of athleticism against BG.
Foreman was naturally speaking the greatest fighter ever born, notice how I didn't say created. He didn' just have great height and power like no ones seen since max baer, foreman also had one of the best chins of alltime, you couldn't hurt him, but he could could put any man down with one hit. Cus damato mike Tysons trainer even remarked that "nobody can beat foreman toe to toe" he was a pure juggernaut
