Well that’s not good and I’m aware of a few. However else a ref chooses to regulate a fight, the count is one of the most defining and important adjudications in a fight.
No imo. Tyson was lucky to fight in a period of good but not exceptional fighters. If he had faced one among Holyfield, Bowe or Lewis in the 80s he would have lost some fight for sure.
I believe this is true. It wasn't a bad era but by the time he'd lost to Buster and gone to jail, the division was starting to really heat up. Now if a young 19 year old Tyson had come along around 1991, then that would have been interesting indeed.
Age is irrelevant, he had all kinds of issues in his personal life and he did not prepare properly for the fight.
I agree with that. That's why I said that I really don't care much about it. What I was saying was that if we assume both of them were incorrect long counts, I disagree with the argument that they cancel each other out. Because in that case, if the first guy to go down gets a correct count, he would have lost at that point and never gotten a chance to knock the other one down.
Wow, that's such a ridiculous take. Now Foreman was at his best against Lyle with year and a half break after his most humiliating loss, while Tyson wasn't in his prime against Douglas because... he lost. Not to mention that Foreman at least won the fight against Lyle, while Tyson got dominated by Douglas. Your attempts are so weak...
Enough with the long count!!!!! If you get knocked down u follow the refs count!!!! Period!!!!!! It’s not like Douglas was out on his feet anyways!!!! He was far from it!!!! He got up going by the refs count! I’m so sick of long count lol…. If Douglas was so out of it he came right out in round 9 and took it to Tyson! The ref could have counted like a auctioneer and Douglas was getting up! Bottom line Tyson got his ass kicked! And he would have been miles ahead to just have takes the defeat like man and professional and moved on!!!!
Well, he auctioned off Mike's title didn't he? That there was a joke I say. Anyway, don't worry Holmsey. We've now got a dedicated thread where we can talk about it all day long. You can count on it!
Is that Busters fault is it? Busters mother died a couple of weeks before the fight and from personal experience I don’t think you can have too many bigger issues in your personal life than that. Tyson had issues before basically all his fights because he attracted trouble like a horses arse attracts flies. Yet he performed just fine until he met a big, skilful guy like Douglas who cared not for his reputation and thug persona. He was in his physical prime obviously. Did he look shot putting away Tillman and Stewart after that? He looked just like the Tyson of old to me.
