What amazes me about tyson is how compact he was. No looping shots, or punches thrown from wide angles. All amazing power from within small volume. I still think Lewis would have found a way to beat any Tyson though.
Faster than Patterson in every aspect, as fast as Ali maybe with those short, sharp inside punches but not as fast with combinations, jabs and crosses.
Yep, he could have done with a sniper in the rigging to pick off Tyson as he walked into the ring. That's about his only chance though.
Very much agreed, Tyson coulda shoulda woulda been the GOAT if not for all the mis handling, and the wrong mental state to gain the fame, one of the most tragic human beings to walk to earth, ever, it's a damn shame
I've always thought that, he was the most skilled HW for a long time and the most dangerous. 2 bad wat happen happend cz we might nw b lookin at him as the best HW ever
**** no was it overrated, take into account he was trying to kill his opponents with every punch he threw
No, he had tremendous combination of automatisms, technical mastery and huge punching power. Nothing was more lethal than Tyson's studied knockout combination punching, that was fighting perfection in action. Ali was more of a scientifical, cerebral fighter with perfect combination of great footwork and handspeed ( and power hitting at range). Patterson was technical and well-schooled, extremelly classy but not as much fast or as much powerful, just too committed.
I watched it with the sound off (it's late) and it's looks INCREDIBLY FAST so I don't know what you mean.
Watch the videos of Tyson KOing Frank Bruno. Then watch the video of Lennox Lennox KOing Frank Bruno. This will give you some idea of how great Tyson was in his prime. Blindingly fast AND powerful combinations.
