Sorry if this has been discussed before.

Recently saw his fight with Toney. He looked like a God. If Toney was supposed to be the P4P #1 on the planet at the time, he made Toney look like a novice. The hand speed, foot speed and reflexes were simply God like. It was like he was fighting in another dimension than Toney.

Possibly he was a god with gloves at that weight. A stylistic terror who could land at will.

Carlos Monzon made 14 title defenses at 160.

IMO beats any MW in history.

    The most undefeatable at 160.

    Floyd - over several weights

    Marciano- heavy

    fury- heavy (he won’t lose)

Hagler - middle (don’t give me the SRL lecture)

if Usyk stayed at cruiser he would never lose

canelo won’t lose again at whatever weight it is

Bare in mind Toney was in a bad way from the weight starving.

He possibly was but I do feel McClellan would've got him.

For me a pre-cocaine Michael Nunn is the one.

Won’t ever know because he only had a handful of fights at that weight and avoided punchers his whole career for some strange reason.

Loaded question because while he did indeed look godly vs. Toney who was p4p 1 or 2, his resume at SMW was shallow and he didn't stay at the weight very long. I personally think SMW was the best weight for him (far better naturally than LHW where he was small) and he should've made it a career as the division was pretty loaded, but I can point to other fighters that had levels of dominance at certain weights that Roy never got the chance to show at SMW. So I'll say no, SMW Roy was not the most unbeatable version of a fighter ever.

Duran at LW, Monzon at MW, Ray Robinson at WW, Mosley at LW, Sanchez at FW all can make greater arguments

His fight with Toney is a legendary performance. In my lifetime (been alive since 1992) that and Pacquiaos KO of Barrera are the two greatest performances I've ever seen. Nothing comes close to those performances.

As to which one is better? Could make a great arguement either way.

And to who is the most unbeatable fighter ever? Probably ray robinson at 147. Or late 70s Duran at 135. Jones is up there though.

I'm a complete novice when it comes to the history of boxing. But regarding Monzon at MW, aren't there enough other all-time greats at that weight to where claiming that he is unbeatable seems like a stretch? So you are THAT confident he doesn't lose to any other MW ever?

Rose colored glasses. Hagler and SRR had harder defenses at Middleweight. There are several MW's that would give Monzon work. Despite his ring smarts, he was just too slow, great chin but not iron could be hurt and dropped. And what's up with all of those draws?

Potentially I am looking through rose couloured glasses, but only H2H.

He legitimately cleared out a division, without taking a single loss on his legendary run, anyone he drew with he rematched and beat

It's subjective whether the title defenses of Leonard, Hagler, Monzon, Robinson, Eubank Jr or Hopkins are the greatest.

I don't think Monzon was ever accused of ducking anyone, 7-0 in fights against ATGs in that run.

He's my no 1 middleweight as of rn.
