I'm sure Bill Miller said James had much less fire in his belly and ambition after the Jones fight and losing Jackie etc, didn't get it back til Jirov

Possibly. But he obviously wanted to try and avenge his disputed loss to Griffin, and he had too much respect for Mike to not take him seriously.

Yeah, he went out of the spotlight for a while. But he had the Griffin rematch just before he fought Mike for the last time.

The Griffin rematch brought him back into the picture.

    It doesn’t matter.

He was still a world class fighter.

Not anymore. He was the best in the business from 84 to 87 and in 1990 once settled at his new weight. In the late nineties in his forties, no - not big, strong, fast, fit, young or powerful enough, legs and reflexes gone.

He’d just turned 40 when he fought Toney in his last fight.

He was still a top 10 rated LHW when Roy fought him.

Monzon never looked unbeatable in the way that Roy did.

At 7:05 in the video, it looks like Pyatt clipped Collins on the side of the head with that right hook which caused Collins to stumble. The commentator stated "No that's also a stumble" to suggest the punch didn't connect. After watching the sequence several times, I'm convinced that right hook connected, just enough to cause Collins to stumble. What do you guys think?
