    He was a very slight favorite over Walcott, but it was probably due to an unusual betting pattern. A lot of people from his home town bet heavily on him, him seems to have distorted the odds.

    Joe Louis was favorite to beat him, as was Rex Layne.

    After he saw off Walcott, I doubt that any challenger would have been favorite over him.
