Toney was never "ATG H2H" material, not even close. He's pretty much the most overrated fighter on these forums. Skill-wise, not on accomplishments. He was limited as a fighter. In the best performance of his career he couldn't even conclusively beat a natural 154 pounder at MW in Mike McCallum. Time to stop overrating him people.

Tyson, believe it or not, is a good shout. The thing about Tyson is, when compared to other ATG Heavyweights, it's normally the bigger ones that certain people tend to favor over him, whereas any Heavyweight of his size is usually considered dead meat. However, in a P4P sense in comparison to other weight classes, the smaller fighters are usually just more talented than the HW's he'd be matched up with, and there are simply a much larger quantity of them. So it's hard to tell with him, same with someone like Marciano.

There are also just too many variables to do these matchups. Do you make fighter A bigger or fighter B smaller? Do you take away fighter A's speed if making him bigger or fighter B's power if making him smaller? Too many variables to properly do these types of matchups.

The only one I know that was p4p close to or as fast and hit as hard was Tyson.

But i still dont know to much about boxing yet. Still learning.

If there is some one just as fast and hit as hard could you metion him.

Mayweather is great, but Whitaker and Jones Jr are on the level up from him IMO, and that's no slight on Mayweather at all. Jones Jr beat Toney and Hopkins, Whitaker beat Azumah Nelson, and outfoxed and outboxed Chavez. Mayweather's best 2 wins IMO are over Corrales and Castillo. Excellent wins though they are, they're not on a par with those of P and RJJ. I've saw almost all of all 3 guys' world title fights, and I think RJJ was the most naturally talented of the 3, Whitaker was the best p4p of the 3, and Mayweather is slightly behind the other 2.

It's been a pleasure to watch all three though!

Roy is arguably the fastest fighter of all time, though the likes of Hector Camacho(in his young prime), Meldrick Taylor(strictly in terms of handspeed), and a few others rate alongside him. He does have the power edge over any of them though.

Tyson wasn't quite as fast, and fought with a much different style, but he had the power edge over Roy.

As far as speed and power is concerned, I guess Ray Leonard could be thrown in there.

personally I'd pick Duran as better p4p. But Roy was a very unique talent, his main problem is he never pushed himself to the limit and therefore we never found out what he could do in the trenches. Where as Duran seemed to act like he was born to go to war. Certain if Duran had Roy's weight and skill, his mentality would be such that he would have stayed in the heavyweight division, and would have fought the likes of Holyfield. Byrd and perhaps even Lewis.

Hearns p4p would also have been a good matchup.

I agree on all parts, except I do think p4p, in terms of handspeed alone, tyson was equally as fast or damm near. Just much slower on his feet. Never seen a HW threw as fast punches except Ali but Tyson threw them with bad intentions and he was much bulkier.

he was too good for his own good.....simply amazing talent....

he never had to deal with any adversity in his prime..... he just wasn't pushed to go there....
