Was Roy Jones overrated?

no way he was just sacrificing accuracy for speed AND he was 36. You cant expect a 36 year old to be as fast as prime 20something fast guys, unless you are being facetious or extremely biased as to be blind.

 

He is an ATG who beat a lot of very good fighters.

 

An atg as much as anyone whoever lived imo, IF you forget the Peds, but that imo is slowing becoming irrelevant, every ****ers on them !

 

His chin may have been overrated.

 

Loved watching Him fight His use of Angles and distance was the likes I have never seen before...a bit Chinny but has to be up there with the ATGs....

 

was anyone else recently who won a HW title from MW overrated, lets consider the candidates.

That way we can compare Jones to them so we can give a value to his rating compared to others who did the same.

Someone list them for me, and we cant include Toney since he was stripped.

Its a great achievement, but it was a cherry pick and Roy was roided out of his mind for it..

 

Never understood why people thought he was chinny. Zero chin issues prime, reflexs would've helped that, but **** me he was a boxer, he caught shots at stages of his career that never troubled him, moved up to fight Ruiz with peds, then packed on too much to drop back down with good punch resistance. His brain had no cushioning with the weight drop and that coupled with getting older started off his ko loss downfall. Just my opinion though

 

Only one thing comes into mind when we talk about roy.

Roids, glass chin and cherry picker.

Overrated never really.

 

Yeah probably got a bit Chinny later in his Career...but he stepped up in weight Big time so that would explain it...in his Prime he was sensational to watch...one of my Favourite Fighters...

 

hey timeout why dont you make a list of the guys we can compare jones to who went from MW to HW.

 

He got 2/3 right imo..Not worth scrutinising what so ever, its near enough right.

 

I am not going to make a list because i will be here too damn long!!!

But beating Ortiz jr whilst roided is not a massive feat thats for sure.
