i think Roy was not only weathering the storm but was stable on his feet while Green was punching him self out.
I beleve if the referee never jumped in & wave his arms...the round would have ended with Green tired & Jones head was clear!

To me it seemed Green just did a Joe Calzahe/Amir Khan/ Frank Warren fighters special where they just throw a flurry of punches for the ref to justify a stoppage.

If the fight had gone on, cus of Green punching him self out i think Roy Jones whos the natural fitter man would have stopped him.

Jones comments at the end of the fight was just being polite. If some1 paid me 4million$ id be polite & respectful too,tho i beleved he knows its a premature stoppage!

It wasn't a bad stoppage. I wouldn't have complained if it had gone on longer, but Jones was on bad legs and was showing nothing.

Oh come on.. If the fight had went on and Green had hurt Jones badly, would you be saying that he should have it stopped earlier? Sure. Give the guy a break. For gods sake, Green threw like 50 unanswered punches at Jones, some landing, some not, but he was not responding at all. He wasn't even unhappy himself.

Wasn't a bad stoppage, but ref could have given him more time. He didn't look hurt to me, just hsi equalibreum was messed up from the shot. If he had time to recover he could have come back, or he could have been ko'd, we will never know.

He didn't seem badly hurt but the ref was in a tough spot. Like a close fight, this one could go either way. But Roy seemed to know he'd left the ref little choice.

  7. I voted yes definitely. experienced refs are inclined give veteren fighters benefit of the doubt which i felt he deserved because..... Roy was dazed but he was still well balanced and very tightly blocking most of the shots green unloaded on him.

At the same time, it was a sensible decision as far as the rulebook is concerned but Cappuchino would of let it go on. ;)

Props to green, as soon as the SURPRISE kd occured, he held his excitement and used his brain like a true pro. It would of been like hitting a royal flush but having to hold your balls and close the deal.

It would be barbaric to have let that fight continue on much longer, if any longer, period. Jones was still out of it 10 minutes later... Shows how badly he would have been hurt if the fight continued. Admit it, Jones is DONE. He should never fight again.

I like seeing KOs as much as the next guy, but not that "Take a 100 punches before the guy goes down"

A lot of fighters in the classic era of boxing were seriously damaged or died that way. The ref would wait until the guy finally fell to the floor before counting him out.

Roy was hurt, he wasnt fighting back. After 15 unanswered punches he was still just covering up.

Whats the ref supposed to do? When a fighter is just unloading and the guy isnt fighting back and you can see he is dazed, letting go on is just a recipe for disaster.

Had the ref let it go on and then Roy been seriously hurt and knocked down, we would have the opposite thread complaing about the ref.

RJJ didnt protest the stoppage at all. And frankly he still seemed shaky even after he walked to his corner.

Yeah his legs were near enough gone. It would have been cruel to let him take more punishment. Maybe he should have taken a knee, but Green swarmed him so he must have had no time to think.

I don't know I thought it was ok. He probably could have made it out of the round but he was hurt and probably would have just been taking punishment from then on until it was eventually stopped.

The tape clearly showed he was hit in back of the head. The fight should be declared a no-contest.
