How do you beat someone who's perfected the shoulder roll technique without the obvious which is trading shots with them or turning them behind their leading foot.
1)superior speed 2)effective use of the southpaw stance 3)strong lead left hook 4)powerful right hand to the body
5) workrate 6) feinting (see duran's feinting against palomino) 7) dedication to the body attack 8) jab...jab....jab....jab
I dont think many of you on here are in a position to question a multiple division world champion like the Great Roy Jones Jr. Any fighter can be beaten. Shoulder roll means nothing. It's not the style,it's the man using it or fighting against it.
Um yeah there was this guy named James Toney, he was 44-0, well schooled and at that time great, he fought Roy and we all saw what happened.
Roy is my boy but Toney was not 100% in that fight. As for the TS question : the biggest flaw of the shoulder roll is it's vulnerable to jabs. Once the guy starts bringing his right hand to the center to block the jab you start using your left hook and you will do damage. Also the looping right hand to the body works well.
you nailed it. the right hand to the body works well, the workrate is reduced significantly with the roll, the right side of the head is vulnerable to a fast left hand, movement is limited. it's good but not invincible
