Think the question has to be asked after last night. Maidana hit Khan just as hard as Garcia did and couldn't put him down. I know when Ariza started working with Khan, he put a lot of emphasis on strenghtening his leg and neck muscles to improve his punch resistance. Khan's first fight since Ariza left and the china is back. Coincidence? :think I think not, personally. Garcia's left hook didn't even land flush, caught a lot of his neck. If it had landed flush on his chin, he wouldn't have gotten up.
No, it was obviously his defence and his tactics at fault Garcia is a shorter, sharper puncher than Maidana and Khan fought a bit more conservatively The punch I thought landed behind the ear, which is 1 of the worst places to take a punch

Khans downfall was his aggression. He would jab jab then step in and throw 3-4 punches. A smart fighter like Garcia eventually had had enough and risked taking Khans shot to land a perfect punch and he did. Khan needs to fight like he did against Kotelnik- more safety first.
No, with the way he fights he was going to get knocked out regardless of who his strength and conditioning coach was.
I think the following had more to do with his downfall: Rushing in with his chin exposed. Displayed this flaw since the very beginning of his career. Remaining upright with no guard in place and no head movement. Too one-dimensional with his attacks; allowing any half-decent counterpuncher to anticipate and pick him off with ease. Not knowing what to do when hurt, choosing instead to swing like a mad man hoping the storm will eventually pass. Danny done his bit, too. He took the first two rounds to see what Khan was about. The first knockdown wasn't the first counterpunch he landed. He was having success in the first and second, too. Then he timed him beautifully at the end of the third. But yeah, I suppose if Ariza was in his corner, maybe his legs would have stood up slightly better. But as long as the above things were happening, Ariza's conditioning was never gonna' change the outcome.
This content is protected Looks like mostly chin and neck to me. As far as the Maidana fight goes, he made plenty of technical mistakes in that one too, got caught a lot, yet the punches didn't seem to have the same effect. I'm talking purely about the affect of the punches here and how he took them.
khans physical stature was so different last night. he normally looks bigger then his opponents last night he looked skiny and drained. it doesnt mean the result would be any different but i think having ariza back would have helped but who knows.
Considering his star gym mate who he tries to emulate emmanroid struggles like hell against counterpunchers, "Dani's" style was Amir's downfall
The difference with the Maidana shots, in my opinion, was that Khan could kind of see them coming. When Maidana rocked him in the 10th, Khan wasn't doing much apart from backing up. A sharp contrast to the manner in which Danny landed his left-hook; which was a counter punch thrown and landed whilst Khan was committing to an attack of his own. And you know, those are always the most dangerous times to be hit. As evident by it practically ending the whole thing.
With all the spotlight on PEDs, Freddie knows his fighters cant get away with doping so easily anymore. So just like paccy in his last 2 fights, Khan came into this clean. Garcia, like grandpa Marquez for paccy, was supposed to be a harmless opponent to try the gamble against
