I didn’t need Merchant to tell me that whole situation was garbage. I followed the scene closely enough to decide for myself

Yep, good point. The Tyson haters talk about him ducking Foreman based off a BS hack job article, and yet nothing gets said about Foreman getting stripped, TWICE, for refusing to face an ancient Tony Tucker or give a rematch to Axel Schulz. In fact, the way Schulz got ranked lead to an open investigation with the IBF and president Bob Lee.

And people are complaining about Don King? Arum pulled the same ****.

Funny how NOBODY talks about that issue now, do they!?

I sincerely doubt King gave him his full purse. Not after that effort. How would you like endorsing a $5 million check for that effort? And King would be more than willing to go to court should he underpay the guy.

Maybe 1.5 after all the deductions and that would be the extent of his generosity.

Personally I dont think it was a dive.

But those who do...consider Sammy "The Bull" Gravano"s testimony that around about 1990-93 the new york and new jersey italian mob were trying to regain influence in boxing...without even knowing it..a innocent figure like buddy mcgirt was a mob fighter as his trainer Al Certo was a Gambino crime family associate, Damiani was in the same predicament...Seldon was from Atlantic city...gambling capital...he also had an old Italian mentor in his formative years known to the mob (unsubstantiated rumour thst May be bs)...so if theres a dive theres a racket behind it...an organised racket..Gravano also said hed tried to get Gotti to buy Gleason"s........we have to consider who may have been behind it.....the Colombo family were heavily into sports gambling...Michael franzese knew don king...i dont think it was Nicky scarfo...or gaspipe casso...or vicente the chins style so that rules out the jersey and bonano and lucchesi families....but it does appear to have Gambino handwriting all over it..

...you note the still young seldon...disappeared for 6 years after losing to Tyson...

    Just playing devils advocate.

Personally i dont think bruce took a dive...at all..
I think like golota there was something mad about him in the ring...he seemed to like going down than jumping up

Look at the Ribalta fight...maybe to look exciting when he junped up to fight....perhaps he tried that with tyson but his legs legit folded under him like a accordion.

I dont think the kid had any dog in him...he was just mad like golota and moorer

    I think this fight is similar to Lewis-Golota,Lewis-Ruddock,Vitali Klitschko-Orlin Norris,Vitali Klitschko-.Hide,
    Vitali klitschko-.Solis,Holyfield-Douglas.

    Looked fake to me.

I do think Tyson vs Clifford Etienne had an arrangement of sorts.
