Sergey seemed to be much slower by the time he fought Andre Ward for the first time & even seemed more heavier by his physique & noticeably heavy footed,

I felt he looked the best when he fought Hopkins at the end of 2014 when he was so quick while processing fast on the move, he moved a whole better in general, his footwork was impressive for a fighter his size & he managed to land great fast & heavy blows, he came to attack & looked really good when he was counter punching even by the time of the first Pascal fight,

By the time Ward & Kov fought Sergey was a lot more stand still & seemed to have turned into more of a thinker boxer rather than the quick reacting fighter i saw three years prior,

What are your guys opinions & do you believe that version of him would have made his fights with Ward more easy especially going by the first when he was more disciplined in his training?

I think the problem with a lot of Eastern European fighters is that they think they can win every fight by showing up in shape and use their very good skills.

But they don’t understand the whole A side B side game. And then they get ****ed.

First time Kovalev did not understand that. Second time he did understand that but he did not know what to do about it, and it mentally broke him.

I did think at the time it was a bad move for him to rematch Ward. He got ****ed the first time. So what did he think was going to happen the second time?

Most people believed Kovalev won, he should not have allowed Ward any oxygen, keep his head high and fight other options.

I was at the first fight and I thought Kovalev won but it went downhill after that. I think that fight was the beginning to the end.

Nicely said & I thought the same about him rematching Ward right away, bad move made even worse by his over confidence & lack of discipline in training don't know why he put himself in that position.

He won the first & got blatantly robbed by the Ward/ Weekes combination in the Testes assault combination in the rematch. Ward should have been DQ'd. Maybe it wouldn't have seemed so obvious if Weekes hadn't cautioned Ward in round one when he dropped one south of the border with a " Keep em up Andre OK"
Then he totally ignored theWard barrage I wonder Why lol

I thought he peaked before he fought Ward. He didn't fight aa destructively by that point in time.

That was not a peak Kovalev, but still very dangerous. After the 2nd Ward fight he looked way past it until the Canelo fight, where he looked unable to pull the trigger anymore.

You could see problems when he fought Chilemba. He really struggled in that match and he definitely seemed past his peak by then.

There's absolutely no way Ward won that fight. Kovalev was robbed blind. And I don't think he was past it. The second fight was even when Ward started bombing his balls to be fair. Ward is dirty **** and Weeks is trash.

Yeah, that's why Ward fought him. There was that fight in Russia where Kov didn't look so great, got a KD but faded. Ward thought he'd lost something, so wanted the fight.

This is how these boxers operate, particularly defensive ones, they pretend to be warriors but actually they're opportunists. So many times we see them waiting for the fighter to slip before making the fight. This was one of those times. Obviously Canelo preyed on Kovalev after he'd slipped much more.

Yes. Even Ward admitted that Kovalev probably wasn't The Krusher by the time he fought him.
