Was Sonny Liston stronger in his comeback?

    Do you guys think Liston was stronger during his comeback, versus his championship years?

    He was a bit bigger, yeah, but hard to say.

    Foreman in his come back was definitely stronger, I'd say. He started to train with weights and that must have had something to do with him getting so much bigger.

    I think he was and IMO he was fighting at the beginning of the bigger heavyweight...he could use more strength than speed moving beyond Ali to fight the bigger slower fighters

    Injuries had already set in. He slowed down in both hand and foot after 1960.

    Stronger? Maybe.

    A better fighter ? No.

    Would he be more effective in a bigger body mass wise in the 50's? At a large frame and 6'1 ...yes. But by how much difference...he had already dwarfed most guys in that time. I don't believe Williams could have been opposing against a 225 Liston.
