Was Sonny Liston's jab really that powerfull or is it more of a myth?

Sonnys jab was MAGNIFICENT!!! We probably never know real Sonny & results,plus sad death, R.I.P. champ!!!!

 

Sonny's power was no myth, it is proven against game opposition. And its attested to by many reputable sources, and his jab was powerful and precise, and IMO far greater than Wlads Or Lennox's

 

Liston was a mob fighter, who knows how many of his fights may have been fixed?

Marshall broke his jaw in the fourth round and took an 8 rd decision. Liston avenged it twice, the first time by TKO6.

 

Its from black and white footage days so obviously that jab could crush stone and break concrete slabs.
It was also known to change the weather and cause depression within a 400 mile radius.

If you go back another 40 or 50 years ago the fighters then had punches like high explosives.

For the life of me i dont know why some of the posters here still watching current day boxing when everything back then was better 2 fold for every 10 years you go back.
My guess is that they need something to ***** and whine about every day because their own lives are ****.

Jack Johnson's jab was better

 

No, Waldis Jab is only good against much smaller guys. Against guys at his size his Jab looks not so good (looks against Thompson). Holmes was a much better jabber then Waldi, because Holmes could etablish his Jab against bigger guys.

 

So im wrong that theres a good portion of posters that constantly yap on about how things used to be better?
And if those people are here and things really were so much better back in the day you tell me what the logic is of still following boxing if all fighters nowadays are **** anyway?

Looks pretty good to me in this video, even if the picture quality isn't the best: hard and fast - and this is from after Liston's prime.

 

Again - bitching and moaning about others bitching and moaning.

 

There's a good quote from Chuck Wepner about Liston where he says that everytime he hit you he broke something.

Wepner was left in a terrible state after his fight with Liston, he said nobody ever hit him like Sonny did.
