I watched a lot of his fights when I was younger he was great. One of my favorites back then. I feel like he got a little more props than deserved becuase they bashed him for some stupid child support thing during the Olympics. Killed his endorsements. Once he began fighting he and established himself later on he maybe got a small make good from the media because of the **** from the olympics. I am not saying he is overrated much just a little bit. Oh I am gonna get bashed like Froch.

Well he has a nice smokescream put up, kind of like a mayweather only with much better wins.
He lost hearns 2 and vs hagler, hearns 1 + duran 2 are great wins for him though, despite duran quitting and hearns being way up on the cards, but no cant say he is overrated.

yeh probably you will take a bashing. People who gre up watching sport in the 80's no doubt think he's one of the greatest.

he had the chance to live in an era with a lot of great fighters around his weight class and he had the balls to fight most of them (shame he didn't fight Pryor)

As overrated as Pacquiao and Mayweather, no. Both Pacman and Floyd are already approaching their last fights in their careers while Leonard had already fought Duran and Hearns mid career. He had a catchweight fight over a much, much bigger opponent. A limited opponent, but one with a ko punch. Floyd and Pacman taking on Martinez is today's version of Hagler, but Floyd and Manny coming up with excuses already. I don't see how Leonard could be overrated in any way.

    In a word, no.

Leonard had it all, a great, complete skillset which he used to beat Duran, Hearns, Benitez and Hagler.

    A truly great fighter.

No. He was a complete fighter and had a great resume. He was not a *****, he could mix it up in a war or he could box your shoes off, he had a great chin and he had a killer instinct.
