He was an excellent lighweight. Not sure i'd rank him above some like Billy Petrolle in the ATG stakes though. I wouldn't have him top 40.

His resume at 135 lbs is quite thin compared to most of the top 135 guys.

Certainly not one of the greatest, but he was one of the best...maybe that's what you meant.

Shane's not one of the top tier greatest lightweights but H2H hes as you say one of the best. He's not beating Laguna, Buchanan or Ortiz never mind Duran, Gans and Leonard. He does however compete well with every one of them.

Shane could certainly beat a Laguna or a Buchanan. He'd probably even be favored.

Having posted on boxing forums for many years I can confidently say Shane would not be favoured in these match ups.
Anyway I'm sure we've had this discussion before Kevin. My opinion is that laguna and Buchanan jab and move too well for Shane. All three are extremely tough so both match ups go to points where the better boxers (Laguna/Buchanan) would be favoured to win.

Shane would have kicked Buchanans overrated ass. What exactly did Buchanan do better at LW that DLH did at WW? Nothing. At LW Shane was much more of beast than at WW where he jumped two weight classes and beat DLH.

Shane resume at 135 is extremely thin.

His come out fight was DLH 1, which he won due to DLH macho approach after the the Trinidad loss, slugging played right into Shane's strengths. I think he lost the rematch but it was close, certainly no robbery.

IMO, Mosley was always a slugger/brawler with a chin, he was handily defused with a consistent jab and some movement, in other words he could be out boxed by a disciplined fighter who stayed out of the trenches.

Buchanan wouldnt have had near the success against Mosley that DLH did at 147 and 154. Its not even comparable.

If there's one thing Buchanan had, it was a great Jab.

Still hating on Buchanan I see. Shane's not good enough to kick Buchanan's ass. Ken would frustrate the hell out of the stiffer Mosley using his superior movement and jab.
Stylistically Buchanan is all wrong for Mosely.

Just look back to Forrest / Mosley. When Vernon was asked how he would deal with Mosley's speed, he laughed and said " I'll take away the fools speed with my jab "

And he did, TWICE. Anyone who thinks Buchanan couldn't jab at least as well, if not better than Forrest is a moron.
