Was Tarver's KO punch over RJJ a lucky punch or a good counter?

In boxing, when you throw a punch with a view to hitting someone and that happens, I find it odd when thirty odd people come to consider that luck.

they voted that because they did't think it was a counter-punch. So actually they should have voted the 3rd option...

Better was if you could choose between ''it was a great counter'' and ''it was a no counter''.

Like I said before. That is wasn't a counterpunch doesn't mean it was lucky shot:nut

It wasn't a (good) counter but it wasn't lucky either. Just a punch thrown that landed.

Dont get me wrong...I dont think it was a lucky punch at all. What I meant by it was, Jones was such a great defensive talent...with unparalelled relflexes...so it wasnt like him to leave himself so open after a miss. That was the only luck that was involved, if you even wanna call that luck.

I get your point about others being able to catch him clean prior, but that punch was PERFECTLY placed, by a fighter not known for accuracy. And as I said, Jones was NEVER caught that open, or that off guard by anyone previously or before...not even Johnson, who's KO came more from an accumulation than just a perfectly placed power shot.

RJJ's defense seemed great against pretty much everyone else but not against Tarver. Even in the first fight, you could tell RJJ was never himself and in that groove. And if you look closely at the 2nd round about 30 seconds before his KO, there is a point where Tarver JUST MISSES a left hand down the pipe by inches. And after this, RJJ came back with some punches because he knew he was almost caught flush and probably felt he had to answer. Tarver's southpaw stance and his ability to land that left hand at anytime made RJJ weary IMO. It never allowed him to settle down and pick his spots and do his thing.
