Does the book list the sources of its information about fights, either as a bibliography, or citing newspaper names in the text itself?

If I remember right...it was written in a way a son would write about one helluva father..I don't remember many details in the book about...say..the series between Lewis and Jack Britton..there were some interesting insights about the Lewis-Benny Leonard fight..either way,I think it's a great book. For one of the great stories in it,google :Ted Kid Lewis and Oswald Mosely.

    Len Harvey,
for overall greatness "achievements" plus the all more important H2H where it really counts, I'd have to say from MW - HW very capable of beating, at least once any of them.

    Jock McAvoy,
for pure fighter and pure hardness, I'd have to say that McAvoy as above could take any of them out from MW - L-HW, he was the most feared MW in the world mid late 30s. denied a world MW title fight.

    Bert Gilroy,
for both skill and toughness. Gilroy like his predessesors above could likewise beat them all more often than not, favoured to beat McAvoy and spent half his stolen career fighting up!

these 3 Brits are so closely linked, fought at a time when Top men fought UP and often, they fought more bigger Top men than any before or since.

hard to seperate them and in their own weights, possible world champions in any era - they fought during the greatest era and especially for MWs!

better than any British, Middle and L-HWs!!!

I believe they fought two over the weight bouts with equal results, but we must remember Ted Kid Lewis was a big, strong welterweight and Benny Leonard was a lightweight. Interesting that Ike Williams chose not to challenge the welterweight Ray Robinson...Ever !
