No. Lowry swept the first 4 rounds. Then Marciano took over from their winning the last 6 rounds. Some think Lowry was on the cuffs as he seemed to stop throwing punches, others think marciano wore lowry down with his relentless body attack, whatever happened we don't know. But Lowry blew the fight in the final 5 rounds. A much improved Marciano beat Lowry very clearly in the rematch
I heard it both ways. The boxing writer that covered the bout had it for Lowry, 6-4, But I also heard some had it the other way around. They fought at the Rhode Island Auditorium, Providence, Rhode Island, where Rocky had 28 of his 49 bouts, so he could have gotten some home cooking. Like SuzieQ stated, most people say Ted won the 1st 4 rounds, and then Rocky came on after that. By the way, going into the bout, Ted lost his last 7 bouts in a row and 10 of his last 11. In the second bout between the two, Lowry took the bout on very short notice.
KenNorton804 is Chris Warren. HeGrant is not the biggest Marciano fan, but he's a legit poster and gives Rocky his due when forced to. Warren is just a race-baiting troll. Lowry vs Marciano was probably a somewhat close decision. There's no doubt that Lowry dominated the early rounds, but coasted late in the fight, allowing the less experienced but better prepared Marciano back into the fight by outworking Lowry with ineffective but scoring blows. It wouldn't surprise me if the fight were the type where one boxer, a seasoned journeyman, is looking more potent and doing the cleaner work while the other, a raw and unpolished prospect, is looking sloppy but putting forth more of an effort. The fighter with more "upside" got the nod, to no one's surprise. Seen the scenario happen numerous times.
Papers indicate Lowry should have one, 6-4, but that is a close fight, not a robbery. I have heard a credible historian say it is well known that Lowry had the cuffs on. Since he does not post here, you will have to PM me for the detials.
