First off I must say marquez is a true warrior. dude really put forth a GREAT effort. thought he went out(if he retires) the proper way. but I had him losing the fight and being on the decline in the last few rounds.

But do you think he was really injured or was he just throwing the towel in? The reason I ask is he looked confused an dazed at the end of the round. weeks grabbed his arm and wheeled him towards the corner. just food for thought. overall it was a great fight and exciting. juanma continues on as undefeated. not tryna start **** just curious as to what u guys think or saw.

I'm not so sure about the shoulder injury but I give him the benefit of the doubt since he is indeed a real warrior. The end of the fight was too one-sided. I'm sure he wants to fight on but I would like him to retire.

    Probably a bit of both.

Right. The impact of Rafaels punches were becoming increasingly less dramatic, at the same time he was obviously buzzed from Lopez's shots. He couldn't find his corner or discourage JuanMa.
It isn't often a fight is stopped at exactly the right time , but this one was.

I think the injury made a difference here, but was not the reason for the loss. Without the injury the most likely outcome would have been a Lopez UD12.

However, I think it is not only an excuse. Marquez did not use his right from the 4th and up to that point, straight right was landing.

Who knows but we will see in the next days... In the interview post fight in the TV AZTECA transmission he said in the 3rd round when he hurt Lopez he injured his shoulder but he keep fighting until he couldnt do it anymore, 5 more rounds after that so if there was an injury which I dont know a rematch would be great it was an exciting fight ...

It was a nice interview both JuanMa and Rafa were being interviewed at the same time and JuanMa was great he said he didnt believe Rafa punched that hard until he caught him and he said he was sorprised by his power, Rafa said something that after round 3 he couldnt put power behind his punches...

    Bit of both.

I felt Lopez adjusted somewhat, but then you could argue he was able to because of the injury, that said, I truly believe, that for Marquez's success's, that Lopez would of caught up to him anyway.

I noticed that Lopez was doing a lot of head-hunting early, but that later in the fight, he started touching the body first, which seemed to edge him closer to land other punches, when he got there, he was able to exploit a flaw in Marquez's inside game, that he has a tendency to lean in when fighting inside, which is most probably why Lopez managed to paint him with uppercut after uppercut.

    He was starting to fade.

The younger and fresher Lopez just started to get into it and just started to dominate, and I think Marquez knew that.

He saved himself for another day. Was great, while it lasted.
