Thats what i want to know.

It looked a nothing shot. I don't think it hurt price, Just completely took away his equilibrium and balance so when he got up, he couldn't stand up straight.

What i want to know. Was that a complete fluke thing that could happen to alot of fighters if hit in that spot. Or does price just have shocking punch resistance.

The shot caught him on the ear, but looked like nothing.
If prive never went down, the punch wouldn't have even made the highlight reel of the fight, it looked to barely land.

Same **** happened to Barker in the Martinez fight. Brits got sensitive eardrums.

It reminded me a bit of the KO punch in Martinez-Barker.

A shot that didnt look especially powerful or devastating but it popped the eardrum & ruined his equilibrium.

Me too, but even less of a punch.

Are we to assume every time Price gets clipped on the ear this will happen or do we reckon its a freak thing.

i don't see why. he's been ko;d before as he had a reputation of a dodgy chin.

It will prob just make him more defensive. But with his jab and stature i don't think that will matter.

There are fighters who fought with such an injury! Woge or Maske both had the same injury in fights they said they only had a little bit trouble with balance and they could not hear! But none of them did a chicken dance like Price did....

a glancing shot or getting clipped on the ear must happen all the time in every fight.

I don't see how that punch was any differant

The short answer is that it's a high % knockout shot when you can puncture the opponent's eardrum. As soon as Price went down I knew it was an eardrum.

It's almost like a liver or solar plexus punch where pinpoint accuracy can produce devastating results for even the most featherfisted puncher. Granted, with the ear, you don't feel like you're suddenly dying, but the inner ear is vital in balance and equilibrium. It's not an easy injury to bounce back and hide the effects of quickly; because it does throw your balance off, refs are quite likely to stop the fight because the quicker you try to come back, the more you'll stumble around like a drunken oaf.

THIS! In every fight you will get shots on the ear like Price did! And it causes injuries! I love my example with Woge! He had the same injury like Price TWO times in a fight! He only felt little of balance and had little problems with his standing he said after the fights. Or the german box expert Henry Maske said once (when Ustinov was quiting against Pulev because of the same injuy) that you can fight through it.
Pretty strange that Price gets so off balance from such a weak shot when other boxer get much bigger shots on the same spot or when other boxers can fight with the same injury....

this came to mind with me too.

Price didnt have to have his ear bandaged after.

It was just the right amount of force to the right area. Sort of a fluke, but thats the same with every flash knockout/knockdown. It just landed in the right spot man, every fighter is at risk of this no matter who theyre fighting

I hate to say about anyone glass chin or poor poor punch resistance, but there is no doubt price has terrible punch resistance, i could not believe he went down from that Thompson was surprised there was nothing behind that punch...I believed price will be good champion but that aint going to happen only guy that could do magic for him was Emanuel Steward!!!

Yea I said it many times in this thread nobody wants to hear it! Woge got a pretty bad hook on the same spot like Price! He was just of balance for some seconds but he could recover! Also Maske said that you can fight with such an injury!
Also many boxer get much harder shots on the same spot (just because it is hard to defend espacially when you are going to throw a punch the side of your head is open mostly. Very good spot to counter your opponent!)
But just a few get ktfo like price did! It was a weak shot! Not much power on it because it was a short arm shot!
Many said that Price cant take a shot against Thompson we saw that these people were right!
