I am a big Sergio Fan... that KO seemed really weird. I know that it could have been accumulation... but he took punches like that all night, and this one bounced off his glove. I guess It landed in a bad spot, on the back of the head... but I dunno. What do you think? Did Barker put like 10 million on a 10th round KO for Martinez???? British Mafia? Snatch anyone?
Something really fishy is going in the main events in boxing. I hate to say this but boxing is becoming like WWE. I'm starting to hate watching.
Thank god im not the only that think it was weird. He just suddenly quit, it wasnt that devastating. He was taking his punch pretty well until that round. Shiet was fishy as hell.
**** yes. I've seen shakier-looking KOs that I could venture to justify. This shot went around a guard, hit near the back of the head, and late in a fight against a fighter that was breaking down.
Barker knew full well he could not win a decision. He was behind, and even if he wasn't, no way in hell will anybody be awarded a decision against Martinez on HBO. Barker also knew he wasn't going to get the KO. He hit Martinez flush all night, and never made a dent. I ****ing HATE martinez. He's the most over rated fighter in the world today, BUT, he does have a good chin. Barker just got overwhelmed and quit. That's my opinion.
It did look as if the punch landed on the glove first and bounced of hitting Barker behind the ear. It was wierd! But it just could of been accumalation of shots or the bodyshots were really taking their toll. Maybe Sergio really put his weight into that one and didn't just throw it with speed. Barker was sitting in his corner after the KO still trying to shake off that shot.:think I just hate it when Sergio drops his hands and puts out his chin, sooner or later someone is going to nail him.:bbb
No, not legit. You see, unless a fighter lands square on the chin and knocks you cold, it was obviously a quit job. However, if a fighter does hit you on the chin and knocks you out cold, it is suspect, because the guy was just closing his eyes, which anyone can do. There is no such thing as a legit kayo and all fights that are stopped are fixed by the referee or fighter. This is boxing 101.
You are pathetic. You hate Martinez for what? Being overrated in your opinion? What a disgraceful reason to hate a fighter. Oh yeah, he ****ed Pavlik up. That's what really burns.
............Would that hate have anything to do with Him not leaving the ring on a stretcher on April 17, 2010?:hey
More overrated than Chavez Jr.? More overrated than Canelo? :-( at least you admit that you straight up just hate the dude. Why though? just because he made you eat your crow after the Pavlik fight? Is Sergio a dirty fighter, does he trash talk his opponents? Is he unsportsman like in his fights? Does he beat women and is constantly getting in trouble with the law? Well at least you give him credit for having a good chin.:good
Barker looked terrible, when leaving the ring. Guy's brain was batted around into mush and he probably can't hear - going to have that weird waterfall noise, in his head, all weekend. He looked like he might have been attempting to take a knee, but got lost, along the way. Then Barker tried to pull himself up with the ropes, but they weren't where he thought they were.
Martinez is just a good fighter who was in the right place at the right time, and lucky enough to have a promoter who made some good choices on his behalf. He is not the immortal boxing god people try to make him out to be. Paul Williams was a welterweight with no defense. His spray and pray offense and lack of defense made him a KO waiting to happen. Martinez just happened to be the guy who threw the punch that KOed a guy who lost to Quintana. Furthermore, martinez needed two fights with Williams in order to score one convincing win. Peak Miranda, middleweight Abraham, Taylor, Hopkins, Pavlik, middleweight Zuniga, any of those guys along with several other recent middleweights would have knocked PDub out the first time. Pavlik was a drunken and drug-addled shell of his former self. Christ Almighty! He was doing his first stint at Betty Ford up until 10 days or so before the fight. Pretty much any top 10 middleweight would have beat him that night. Barker was ****. Assuming they would be in top form, any of the previous 3 middleweight champs would have blasted Barker out in 3 rounds or so. Martinez went life and death with him for 10 rounds because that's sergio's real level.
