Was the 1st Holyfield fight the best all-round performance of Lennox's career?

Taking into account both QUALITY OF PERFORMANCE and QUALITY OF OPPOSITION, was the "draw" with Holyfield the best all-round performance of Lennox's brilliant career?

I loved him against Ruddock, Golota, Grant, the Rahman rematch, and I even loved his chin and his grit against Vitali, but I think my favourite Lennox performance was against David Tua. Tua was a really dangerous fighter and Lennox boxed him beautifully.

What do you think was Lennox's greatest performance?

No, he criminally let Holy off the hook on a few occasions.
The insane beating he gave Golota stands out in a career of gems, and the look on the Poles face.
    Top fighter Lennox.

Would you say it was Golota for you then?

Lennox's best performance for me was against Ruddock, that win sent MAJOR shockwaves through the division and he was avoided for years afterwards. He should have been more reckless V Holy in that first fight but he still won at a canter, no-one can make a case for that decision being justified, NO-ONE.

Actually DINAMITA I'd agree, that was his best and that tells the tale of Lennox was somewhat overrated as Evander was past it and it still was officially aa draw(altough a robbbery).

Hard to say, depends on what you like. I don't agree that it's Holyfield I, though. He fell victim to Holyfield's generalship a little bit IMO.

Put a masterclass on with the jab in Tua.

If I had to pick just one I would go for Rahman II.

Golota, Ruddock, Grant, Morrison, Tua, Briggs ,Rahman, take your pick. Not the first Holy fight though, no way. Could have don better in that one i'm afraid. He should never have been in a position to be robbed that night.

I'm not saying it definitely is the first Holyfield fight, just asking the question as it seems to be a pretty popular opinion on these forums. As I say in the TS, my favourite performance of LL's was v Tua, but I do see the argument for Holy I being his best display.

His bout with under-rated fellow Jamaican Razor Ruddock was impressive.

His digging deep to come up with the win over under-rated Vitali was also impressive.

(No one else did it before or since, Byrd notwithstanding)

He put on a 'jab clinic' against the very dangerous Tua, and while some in the group where I watched it were disappointed and bored, I thought it was masterful.

One can't help but be impressed by the workman-like, no-nonsense-this-time approach he took with the Rock in their rematch. Shows the relative merits of the two of them when Lennox wasn't goofing off.

And to think Zak holds the first (clearly and well avenged) loss as a mark against Lennox in his assessment of the great heavyweights, but doesn't seem to consider Louis' loss to Schmelling, (equally well avenged) in the same light.

Holy (1) was a good win. I think he treated the man with too much respect, to be honest. But he probably had no idea of how much the judges were going to shaft him that night.

He demonstrated a very good chin against Zeljko Mavrovic, and was in a little trouble a couple of times against a very game contender. (Whatever happened to Mavrovic ?)

A good win, if little heralded.

I would pick Holy (1) and Ruddock as his two best, each show-casinging different aspects of his great career.

(And I could substitute Rahman (2) for Ruddock there. Hard to pick between them).

His two round annihilation of Michael Grant was his " Ali-Williams ". I expected some of those shots to lacerate Grant's head from his body.. crushing performance, really.

Ruddock, Holyfield, Morrison, Golota, Tua, and Grant were all up there in his top performances. I like to watch his slugfest with a then 228 pound Shannon Briggs. Lewis was rocked several times by a prime Briggs who packed a hell of a punch but was able to gather himself and dominate the fight to a stellar KO. The Briggs fight may not have been his best boxing display but certaintly deserves mention here. Its hard to pick just one though it really is. Best boxing performance I'll go with Holyfield I guess. Most dominant I gotta go with either Grant or Briggs. The Tyson KO was a good win as well even though it was a somewhat shot version of Mike, Lennox still proved his greatness and punching power.
