    i share your sentiments.

if he had any ring savvy khan wouldve stopped pushing after being warned so many times. but can anyone tell me - in what other major bout has a ref taken off points for "pushing"?

No comparison with hhis fight an Mayweather Hatton. Ricky's whole gameplan was predicated on mauling and wrestling Mayweather.

As bad as Cortez can be at times, he let hem work it out themselves for a few rounds, during which, the fight was nigh on unwatchable. Granted Mayweather was pushing off with his elbow like Khan was tonite.

This fight, Peterson was the one looking to get in and khan was he one doing the grabbing and holding. Peterson was looking to rip away on the inside.

Difference between what mayweather does and what Khan was doing. Khan was pushing off both arms extended. Most of the time he didnt have to even do it.

Mayweather has made a career of getting away with the kind of things khan was penalised for tonight

That was the ref? I thought it was some loudmouth fan in one of the front rows. If that was the ref there should be an investigation. That was over the top

I agree with you 50%. The timing of the second deduction was poor. On the other hand Khan should have kept things cleaner from the beginning.

Fighters should not be able to stop the action anytime they like by tying up. if you think that's what boxing is about its because you have been watching too many poorly officiated fights. More properly officiated fights occur in the United States than any other jurisdiction.

Almost every fight the ref warns the fighter multiple times. Lamont was warned too...Pushing, elbows, pushing the head down, and other illegal stuff happens all the time in boxing without point deductions. That's why lots of ppl see the point deductions as pretty bogus. I mean Chad Dawson lifted hopkins from off his feet and shoved him to the ground and still got the win. Rough play happens in boxing and is accepted even though it's against the rules.

The pushing thing is so inconsistent with modern refereeing though. Often fighters are either allowed to push apart or the referee will pull them apart. Maybe Khan should have held on so the ref would have to step in to seperate them, but chances are the ref would have taken points for that too

All I'll say is it's not often a fighter gets 2 points deducted in a fight

I agree. The points may have been excessive, but stop pushing after every exchange, really.

I thought the ref had a good fight, Amir Khan was fouling all the way through the fight, constantly dragging his head down and pushing, the ref warned amir all the way through it so he;s only got himself to blame.
I like the way the ref let the fight carry on in the inside( how it should be), it seems to me that Khan needs to learn how to fight in the inside because he hasnt a clue thats why he kept pushing Peterson back( fouling)....
How anyone can critise that ref is beyond me, the only thing i can say bad towards the ref is once or twice peterson used his elbow but thats it..
Peterson deserved to win the fight with his aggresion and clean shots, Amir Khan may have got the nod but decided to foul all the way through because thats alll he knew how to deal with Petersons aggresion..
    REF GOOD FOR ME>...

This was my one gripe from the fight, Peterson was fouling as well but didnt get so much as a warning, he still deserved the decision mind you, Khan was poor.
