Was the American referee fair to Amir Khan?

For all those that say khan pushed LP's head down etc

Peterson wasn't near as bad as Khan was and he was warned. I remember Khan sitting there pushing Petrerson's head down and the ref shouting "Peterson, get your head up"
He yelled that a few times and I was confused at why he was telling Peterson not to put his head down when it wasn't belowe the waist

 

I didn't care much for the point deductions.

I really felt that this was such a close fight that it could have gone either way and I'd be fine with it, but I don't like the fact that the point deductions made the difference on the official cards.

 

Lamont put in a terrific performance. It's just a shame Amir lost his belts based on what appeared to be clear ref bias. I was surprised that the commands to the fighters were almost exclusively addressed to Khan. In any clinch I heard, "Fight out, Khan!" or "Let go, Khan!" The ref only seeing things one way and deciding the outcome of a close fight which cost the champ his title reminded me of Agbeko-Mares 1.

 

He was a poor ref, i think most of us could agree on that.

He was making the biggest no, no mistake in refereeing (and judging) and that's only watching one fighter. It doesn't mean he had it in for Khan. It's just an amateur mistake. He didn't have good eyes as a ref. Some people even when judging can't keep their eyes on both guys.

The ref was more than fair to Khan. Let's recap. Khan was never deducted for the numerous elbows and forearms he put in Peterson's face and neck from round one on. Khan was never deducted points for repeatedly pulling Peterson's head down, and leaning on him. Khan was warned to stop shoving Peterson off of him. Khan continued to do it, and was only deducted two points. Khan was given credit for a trip as a knockdown. That ref wasn't the worst, and wasn't the best. He could have DQ'd Khan for the 30 plus fouls. There are either a whole lot of Khan ball gobblers on this forum, or a whole lot of people who don't know the rules of boxing.

 

No. He should not have deducted 2 points without a HARD warning. That decided the fight.

 

Amir was breaking all sorts of rules and got a point deducted. He kept breaking the rules and got another point deducted. Apparently, a ref isn't being fair if he doesn't allow certain fighters to cheat.

1st foul a forearm and elbow push gets a point in my eyes

2nd foul was a push bad reffing would be not taking a point after taking a point earlier

Also Khan hit on the break after the push coulda got docked for that

i see ppl saying you cant take a point in the 12th of a close fight

why not a foul is a foul doesnt matter when it occurs just like a TKO is a TKO no matter how little time is left on the clock

refs dont decide based on time or how close you may assume the fight is

The ref warned Khan about 5 or 6 times before he deducted a point. He also called an unfair knockdown on Peterson in the first. The ref was fair and let the fighters fight on the inside. Khan just lost to a better fighter in Peterson!
