One more BIG shot and Taylor may not of got up, EVER!!

Its the most cruel and heartbreaking of stoppages but the correct one.

If Steel sees Taylor as in no fit state to continue then he has every right to stop the fight retrospect of what time is on the clock.

One of the worst stoppages of all time, and I am a JCC fan. The two factors that should be of most importance is the time, and the amount of hurt in Taylor.

    1. 4 seconds left, JCC wouldnt even of had any time to land an extra shot on Taylor. This is pretty much a fact.

    2. While Taylor was visibly hurt, he did not look like a stopped/finished fighter even though he was taking a beating. The ref stopped it almost as if he picked an opportune moment to reward a TKO win for Chavez.

My friend Arcane, taylor got back up even having both gloves on the ropes. Richard Steele took a look at him and ask him if he was Kkay and he nodded at him... There were 2 seconds left in the clock. that would have been according to HBO's knowledge a split decision in favour of Taylor. Even tho Julio did prove his thing by KTFO Taylor in the rematch, the first decision was wrong, c'mon man?

I think it was a bad one, I know MT was almost out but he won that fight!

Taylor was out of it, if he was really in a fit state to continue he'd have been able to provide a cognitive reply strong enough to convince Steele to let let the bout continue but instead he looked like he was really hurt and confused.

It's just very unfortunate for him that there were only a couple of seconds remaining when the bout was stopped.

i'm surprised the poll is so close, considering how shitty of a stoppage it turned out to be and the fact that richard steele had to answer for that for a very long time afterward.

110% correct stoppage, steele asked taylor if he was OK & Meldrick just looked away to his right, he never responded to the referee & thats that! He's OUT! who gives a **** if there's 2 seconds left or 1 minute 2 seconds, why should JCC be cheated of his incredible victory.:smoke

The question is should the referee give account to who is winning and how much time there is left in a round to decide wether to stop a fight.

Answer: No. The referee should only be concerned about the safety of the fighters.

I sound like a Steele apologist when I wanted Taylor to win that fight. The stoppage sucks, it is a punch to the gut, but 100% justifiable.

    crazy stoppage.

Taylor was done as a top fighter after that night. He deserved at least that victory.
