Ok the Chisora v Wilder fight was it a legit fight or had certain things been agreed to before the fight ? We had the terrible decisions from the Ref,we had cornermen entering the ring, pushing there fighter back into the ring,we had fighters stopping the fight with an eye injury,we had dubious points taken after knockdowns,we had slips scored as knockdowns,we had fighters holding back and most telling of all Wilder fought wearing leggings which is clearly not allowed in the rules ! Whatever it was both fighters are completely shot and both need to hang them up .

What's this need to keep lumping Wilder in?

He was the intended "mark" of the scandal that was brewing in England.

Chisora punched after the bell. Chisora pulled Wilder to floor when Wilder stunned him with a punch. Chisora got knocked down at least five times from punches. Chisora was given a break when Wilder looked to finish him as early as the third. Chisora was punched out of the ring three times and helped back in twice (once by his corner, once by the corrupt ref himself.) Chisora's team ran into the ring.

Wilder and his team weren't doing all that.

Like I said in another post, when three guys are in the boxing ring, and two of them (the ref and your opponent) are acting erratically, you keep your distance and look for your spots.

Wilder boxed effectively. Wilder kept his cool. His corner kept theirs. And he was polite afterward and walked away with the win.

But the other two guys in the ring were anything but normal. And experts on both sides of the Atlantic are wondering why the British Boxing Board of Control said they were "satisfied" ... when clearly there was some screwy things going on there ... and it was all on film.

So, this isn't going to go away. Every fan from now on can watch that fight and see the corruption for themselves.

If Wilder didn't flatten Chisora so many times, whether they were counted or not, and beat Chisora to a bloody, swollen pulp, they would've stolen it from him. Even with all the knockdowns, the ref and one judge tried.

The guy has had more surgeries than Evel Knievel at this point, and was constantly icing his regularly broken hand afterward.

This isn't a video game. Wilder's punches were landing all over Chisora's head, not just his face and jaw, as Derek bent over at the waist and crouched.

It hurts to punch another guy's skull for the better part of an hour.

As it was, he still scored a knockdown in the 11th round and punched Chisora out of the ring again.

So, I don't know how much holding back he was really doing. If the referee was acting remotely within the normal rules, that fight would've ended long before the final bell.

Instead of trying to lump Wilder in with the clowns trying to steal it from him, the Board should've addressed a clear scandal that has raised eyebrows from experts in the sport all over the world.

He held off because he was wary of what might come back

He was trying to take Del's head off

The ref was absolutely awful but let's not pretend Wilder didn't get away with ALOT of clinching

I felt that in most instances Wilder didn't have much choice as Chisora barreled towards him headfirst and consistently put himself in that situation.

An element of that was the case but he dealt with it by clinching which whilst allowed, once it becomes excessive you expect a ref to do something as it then becomes rule breaking

Yeah but if the ref was doing his job Chisora would have been DQ'd in round 1 when his corner entered the ring

That's in the rules as being by discression
It rarely happens in the early rounds as they are aware that would spoil paying customers night

Later down the line sure, but there are very few instances where a fighter gets disqualified so early

Big fuss over nothing that was

Excessive clinching is also by discretion, some refs are fine with it others are super quick to crack down on it in any form. Personally, I think given the circumstances and Chisoras tactics that the level of clinching was OK. He was only really clinching when he was pinned against the ropes unable to move cleanly away as opposed to doing the Okolie Octopus.

And idk, having your corner trying to get in between fighters is in no way acceptable no matter how early in the fight it is. It's not their job.

Bottom line, the ref was just crap all round

Nobody has mentioned that this was promoted by misfits and I'm wondering if that had anything to do with the narrative on the night

Wish the poll votes were visible so we could see who the clown was who voted it was an exhibition.

I certainly admit I would not be surprised if this fight was investigated, just so many things wrong with it,which was the reason for starting this thread and to see others opinions on it . There is a report in the Mirror online however that the ref Mark Bates will not be investigated after Wilders concerns.
