I thought so. I really enjoyed Zab's dancing and thought it was worth seeing what moves he would bust out with next.
Nope. Even if it was allowed to continue, Kostya had started to time him and land the right-hand fairly easily. It would have ended in the 3rd or 4th but I'll never get on an official for stopping a fight with a fighter in that condition.
You don't understand the rules of boxing. If you fall over and hit the canvas during a count for a knockdown the fights automatically over like the 3 knockdown rule, there is no grey area fights over. The ref just applied the rules correctly.
Does it look like it was too soon? His brain was scrambled! http://stream1.gifsoup.com/view6/3762376/zab-judah-ko-o.gif Didn't Bradley fall over and roll backwards during his first Provodnikov count though?
It was done perfectly, according to the rules. Jay Nady is one of the few great refs and it is a shame Bayless is his replacement in high profile fights.
Put yourself in Nady's size 12's. What's he supposed to do when a fighter gets dropped flat on their back hard and then as soon as they get up glassy-eyed and on wobbly pins they do a hilarious chicken dance before collapsing face first to the canvas again? Is he supposed to let them continue? When a fighter picks themselves up of the canvas after suffering a heavy KD the referee will usually take a second or two to look at them to evaluate whether they feel they're in a position to continue or not. But when they immediately flop back down like a drunk after rising from a heavy KD, eyes not only glassy but looking in totally different directions, it's a pretty good indicator that they're not OK.
