Was the low blow on Buchanan vs Duràn accidental?

Many says it's accidental yet many says Duràn fought too dirty there too,and looking at the TKO results, it's most likely gonna be a no contest or technical decision..

    Accidentally on purpose?

I think he landed a few during the bout before the final, most significant low blow.

I could be wrong but, among other things, he was called Duranimal after all.

No. But neither are the punches thrown by Kenny after the bell had rung (not the 1st time in the fight by Kenny) that preciptated the ball punch.

21 year old Duran pretty much dominated the fight, although Kenny had some moments. I couldn't imagine Kenny EVER beating Duran.

Agreed, I believe the rematch would have ended worse for Kenny and I think Kenny was a great fighter but he was at the wrong place at the wrong time in 135 lb history.

    Hi Buddy.
Agree entirely with your assertion, had the pleasure of talking with Buchanan on various boxing functions many, many, years ago, and he was brutally honest about a rematch with Duran, he knew he wouldn't beat Duran, he just wanted the big payday, he also felt undervalued by the british public, and the press alike, shame because he was a very good fighter, technically gifted and plenty tough, would only put Freddie Welsh above him as far as brits go.
stay safe Clinton, enjoy your post, and your manners, chat soon.

Hi Mike, always a pleasure. I always thought Kenny was a great fighter and had the most educated jab I have ever seen. Sometimes he seems underrated these days. Always value your insights. Thanks. Stay safe.

Watching the fight again you can see, while behind, Buchanan seemed to be gaining a second wind towards the end. In the last round, Duran hits him low out of frustration a couple of times before the fateful one, and Buchanan can be seen wincing.
