From a resume standpoint yes not arguing But who was the best opponent Mike Tyson beat in the sense of on the night he fought them? Was it Michael Spinks? Was Tony Tucker or Razor Ruddock better
Based on name value it's Holmes or Spinks. If you're asking who was the best in regards to the form they were in on the actual night ? Then probably Tucker or Ruddock. Tucker was undefeated durable in his prime and came to win but came up short. Ruddock was a dangerous puncher and was fully confident he could beat Tyson especially after the Douglas upset.
I feel like Pinklon Thomas and Tim Witherspoon couldve been champions if there was a longer gap between Holmes and Tyson
Michael Spinks was probably Tyson’s best win due to its level of importance. But in terms of that actual ability of the opponent in question, probably not.
He absolutely was and I’m a big fan. But I really don’t think that version of Spinks nor his fighting style made for Tyson’s most formidable opponent head to head. In terms of its “ importance “ to the sport, it was a huge win. Spinks was the undefeated linear champion and Tyson was viewed as the best in the world by most.
Great point Trevor Berbick really went for it. Its a Tyson win that deserves a huge amount of credit....Trevor was a brutally strong determined character durable always in shape and until that point someone who could spoil and maul anyone.
