Was the Referee wrong to let Ward fight the way he did against Green?

Agreed. Every time a fighter puts on a magnificent show or wins something major, the loudmouth has to scream out "oh he was robbed" or "he's not as good as ____________". You can't praise anyone in boxing without some jackass having to put his two cents in.

Ward was getting effective work done on the inside. He was placing his head on Green's chest and going to work. If Green didn't like it, it was on him to give some lateral movement, or rough Ward back.

I really dont think last night was "a magnificent show" at all...
And thats really a shame, because i think Ward is a talented guy.
I saw 12 rounds of staying on the ropes holding, bullying, rubbing heads ect...I didnt see great footwork, good combinations, exitement or ANYTHING that made the FANS happy...
If you cant call that boring...well..:-(

I watched it a little while ago. It was a fight and Ward was beating up Green. Had I listened to people on this board I would not have even bothered watching it. Strange how often this seems to work out like this..... :think

Yep, perfect statement coming along from a person with a fitting user. What's next, they're going to think Frazier was a cheat. Do these people know what inside fighting is?

So all boxing fans should become uncritical nuthuggers or fanboys? Ridiculous. Boxing without discerning, critical fans isn't boxing, it's a WWF-style shitshow like UFC.

No the guys that do all the ****ing cring are Europeans 98%. Its the same clowns that was saying that the three Euro fighters would dominate the super-six. Now that its falling apart they are attacking the lead dog which is Ward. Its the same song different beat.

The only reason why im "attacking the lead dog" is because i dont like the way he fights!! This has NOTHING to do with the other american fighters in super six!!
It´s a ridiculous way to see it.
The reason why i reply to your thread is that im a "european"...
I would have LOVED to watch a great fight between to "American" fighters. But this fight was boring as hell!!!
You might find it very exiting to watch, great for you...I didnt.

You catch that the commentators called him "THE" Son of God? :patsch

I did enjoy him making Alan Green look like, well, Alan Green. Maybe Greg Leon is a genius after all? He did keep Green from numerous other ass whuppings and exposures. :think

I thought the ref did a good job. A lot of fans think that if the fighters come into contact in any instance except glove-to-face-contact, then it must be illegal. Head positioning, shoulders, arms, all of that plays a role.

Green was trying to tie up Ward, and Ward was keeping himself free to punch. I thought it was beautiful.

The Kessler fight, on the other hand...Ward's tactics were reprehensible. Punching, closing distance, then holding and waiting for the ref to separate you is not any way to box. This time Ward actually did work inside, and it was good.

Referee couldn't stop Ward because he was the only one trying to fight. Green wasn't doing ****!!

Caiz the ref is just one more example of how crooked the CSAC has become. Ward was allowed to get away with murder in there. A blatantly biased officiating job right out of the Joe Cortez mould
