Was the Referee wrong to let Ward fight the way he did against Green?

If what Ward was doing was so illegal, why did Green's corner never complain?

Oh no, you should just leave your head there in the middle of the pocket, waiting to get clumped with one. After all, that's what all the classic in-fighters did: Langford, Duran, Chavez etc.

This wasn't a heavyweight fight and boxing has changed over the years. Isn't there supposed to be an element of entertainment in each fight? Many referees wouldn't have let that happen. I don't think it was dirty just boring as hell. Ward wants to get the big money fights he has to not only win but win in an interesting style. That display was anything but and wasn't necessary as he was beating Green's ass in the middle of the ring as well. Good strategy as he dominated, but he won't get me to put up money to see him fight in that boring style. Then again, I love boxing, I'd pay to see two bums fight on the corner... but the general public won't.

The fight was so boring that I hoped the ref didn't allow that kind of fight even if that fight was legal.

Ward definitely should have been at least warned for the clinching in both the Kessler and the Green fight. At least he made the Green fight somewhat interesting but the Kessler fight was just horrible to watch with his one punch then grab routine.

lol great answer.... the answer is - they didnt complain, cuz there was nothing to complain about.

You think that this referee was going to get more scrutiny than the average referee because Kessler and the Headbutt Conspiracy Theorist contingency were whining like bitches? Definitely. You think the ref was aware of this? Yes.

Even though there were ONE accidental headbutt, mostly caused by Allen's head movement, the ref DID give Andre a pre-warning to "watch your head" as he was manuvering his head around while infighting.

Think ive seen this fight about 4 times now. If you watch it once, and your prejudiced, you'll definitely find what you're looking for, and thats all you'll remember. Watch it a few times over....

He didnt do much anything illegal, and few times he was verbally warned - pawing jab w/ open glove (yes, that was a BIG game changer). Pull punches higher (bodyshots landing on the belt - no complaint from Green, no warnings for lowblows from ref) and very slick infighting. Obviously, this closed quarters fighting is rather new to n00bs, thats alright.

How are you interpreting Infighting as illegal? As the referee's stance is, as long as the hands are free, as long as someone's effectively working, the fighter's ARE NOT mutually clinched, and are not required to be separated. "Hands are Free", "Keep Fighting/Punching", "Let him Go", does NOT translate as "STOP". Clearly, this was Kessler's issue also. Only on "STOP" the fighters are disallowed to try to attack and required to separate when the Ref says "Break". Im not sure why this was a stumbling block to Kessler, and Green just didnt know what the hell to do while Ward was up against him.

Someone in another thread "anothe Headbutt Conspiracy Theorist" complained that Ward just had to throw up his hands and the referee stopped and breaked them. BECAUSE, during that time, no one was doing work fool, lol. The referee is obligated to stop and break the fighters if one is clinching and there is no work is being done. Now if Ward thru up his hands in a clinch and Green started to work on him, ya think the ref would stop them? Obviously no....

another case of "you'll find what you'll looking for", quite a few haters do this, even on obvious cases lol, shows how moronic they are
