with or without the punch landing, Dirrell was going down because of the slip. Its too obvious.

    No KD.

However in the 10th, clear as day knockdown.

and in the 7th, no way its a knockdown.

Fair enough. If you see the slip starting a split second before the jab connects pushing the fighter further back, a slip call is understandable. Also, if someone else sees both happening at the same time with the punch definitely contributing to the fall in his opinion, a KD call is understandable. It all happened so fast in real time that the only side I'm taking that's it's a tough call and one ref would rule this, other that way, maybe more would say slip as our poll suggest, no problem with that.

I don't think there's any overanalyzing at all. If we're going to make the call one way or another the timing of things needs to get brought up because that dictates the call. It's not as cut and dried as "There's a slip that occurred somewhere in the falling process, so it's automatically a slip". If a punch landed at the same time, there's no doubt it complicates things. Dare I say it, I think the "1000% slip" crowd is oversimplifying it. Now, take away looking at the GIF's 100 times and put yourself in Cole's shoes, and tell me that's an easy call to make. Poppycock.

There's been nothing to persuade me away from my stance that it's a borderline call that absolutely needed to be called one way or the other quickly (hindsight's a marvelous thing), but wasn't. As I've said before, it wouldn't have bothered me if it were ruled either way- as long as it was called quickly. If Cole thought it was a slip, jump in and rule it a slip. If he thought it was a knockdown, jump in and rule it a knockdown. Instead, he couldn't make the call and wasn't in any position to get Abraham's attention and reset the action. We all know what happened next.

not what's going on, everyone agrees that AA was an idiot to do that. this is a question about an event in the fight (which was a slip i think).

by the way, everyone knows that the 4th round knockdown was a real knockdown, right?

there were two knockdowns in this fight: one in the 4th and one in the 10th.
