Was there any decade when a prime Larry Holmes wouldn`t have been champ?

    Sure, when the color bar was in place.

    Otherwise his longevity means that he would almost certainly have got through at some point.

    I think 60s Ali, Liston, Holmes, FOTC Frazier, prime Louis, Holyfield...all would have won titles in any decade.

    I have trouble placing Lewis, Dempsey, Foreman, Tyson, Wlad in the same, Elite territory.
