Was there ever a time Curry could have fought Chavez Sr, and who would have won?

I don’t see how the paths of these two could have crossed in any real timeline. Chavez wasn’t fighting at welterweight until maybe 1993 or somewhere there abouts, by which point Curry’s career was over and well above that division. In a fictional scenario where we’d take a prime Curry at welter vs a 32 year old Chavez stretching himself at that weight I think it would be mismatch in favor of curry.

Chavez wasn't really cut out for anything above 140, given his frame and style. I still find it mind-boggling that King and him were talking about a fight with Norris in 1993 / 1994. Even with a catchweight, that would have been a massacre.

There are some Welterweight titlists that Chavez could beat, but generally speaking they'd be the smaller ones who started at the lower weights themselves, were a reasonable styles fit for him, or the ones who were essentially average in the grand scheme of things. Curry is none of those things.

Yes Taylor had very good speed moreso than Curry as you say..... and he was a volume fighter....but he didnt have the economy, elegance, timing or power of a peak Curry....his defence was also inferior to the 1982-85 Curry imo
