Mike Mccallum Julian Jackson Terry Norris Gerald Mccellan Nigel Benn Michael Nunn James Toney Sambu Kalambay Herol Graham Chris Eubank Michael Watson Roy Jones Jr Was this the best ever..WHAT A LIST OF FIGHTERS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO SAY WHO WAS THE BEST REALLY..Cause no one here can beat everybody else though if i had to choose i would say Mike Mccallum was the best..But it kills me that more match ups never did happen between these great fighters..
An important thing to note about this era is that that group encompasses 3 weight classes (154, 160 and 168) and unluckily a large portion never got to fight each other. They all jumped up at different times. And out of that group Roy Jones was the best, with James Toney or possibly McCallum coming in 2nd. Jones in my books proved he was the best by wiping the floor with #2.
Mike Mccallum was the guy that feared no one..he faced 7 of these fighters and beat all of them except Roy Jones when he was clearly past his best..I beleive he edges Toney both times but whats done is done..
They aren't really all one era.About half are eighties fighters, the others did their best work in the nineties. There was an overlap period that didnt last too long so it's hard to compare some of them.
Too many of these guys never fought each other. I'd go with McCallum at number 1, followed very closely by Jones
