Was this Holyfield’s strategy to maximise his chances of beating Lewis in 1999?

That sounds like a "puncher's chance" gameplan.

Yeah that's why i don't bother reading any of his posts and have him on ignore, he has some of the worst takes i've ever seen and only talks about the same subject.

His obsession for hating on Lewis on multiple accounts is a bit weird yet he'll defend Fury i just don't get that mentality honestly.

Lewis won 15 world title fights, 8 lineal title fights, 13 wins against ranked opposition, and fought 23 times when he beat Razor Ruddock up until he retired.

By comparison Fury has only beaten 3 opponents who were ranked in the top 10, has fought only 6 world title fights, and has only fought 10 times since beating Wladimir.

Lewis was actively fighting for the most part world class opposition after his break out fight vs Ruddock, where as Fury since his break out fight vs Wladimir has fought the likes of Chisora 3 times, Ngannou MMA fighter, Wallin who was nobody at the time, Pianeta, Seferi.

Yeah Lewis may of missed out on 1 or 2 names but for the most part he fought the whos who of his era especially the most important names anyway.

Fury on the other hand has missed out on a ton of names Zhang, Hrogvic, Usyk still not confident this fight gets made, Joshua, Parker, Ortiz, Povetkin, Ruiz, Pulev, plenty of top Heavyweights that Fury hasn't tested himself against.

Exactly right. I've never seen such a thin resume hyped up so much as it is the case with Fury.

If you can be the "best of your era" and an alleged ATG with only six title fights (half of those fought against the same guy) and only two title defences, what was the point in Ali fighting the Listons, Pattersons, Fraziers, Foremans, Nortons, Bonavenas, Lyles, Youngs, Shavers of the world when six title fights and three defences are plenty enough? What was the point in Lewis fighting the Holyfields, Vitalis, Tysons, Tuas, Briggs', Golotas, Mercers, Tuckers, Ruddocks of the world when six title fights and three defences are plenty enough?

Ridiculous. Fury has done next to nothing compared to true ATGs. Apart from the ones you mentioned, there are the likes of Anderson, Makhmudov, Bakole, Sanchez etc who already challenged Fury but Fury ignored them. Some warrior ATG warrior, this guy, with his last two fights from the past 19 months are the corpse of Chisora and a boxing debutant who gave him hell.

OP is a joke to obsessively criticise someone who has retired over 20 years ago yet worship and vehemently defend the biggest hype job in HW history. I might follow your example and put him on ignore.

"Yeah that's why i don't bother reading any of his posts and have him on ignore"

That's why you seek out my threads to reply to.

"Yeah Lewis may of missed out on 1 or 2 names"

Try 8 or 9. No southpaws, no 6'5+ KO one-punch artists. A lot of flat footed sluggers, two of which KO'd him.

    "8 lineal title fights"

So Lewis has "8 lineal title fights" or defences but you don't mention Fury has 10 lineal title defences. Of course.

    "world class opposition"

Considering Lewis's opponents' results against Klitschko era fringe contenders and gatekeepers, I think this is a stretch. Ultimately it's the big wins that matter most, hence Bowe gets more credit for going 2-1 with former 190 pounder Holyfield (who Lewis beat 4 years after Bowe had KO'd him) than for his other 40+ wins combined.

Vitali and Holyfield were Lewis's best wins, Fury has Wlad, Wilder x2 and a fight with GOAT cruiser and southpaw HW Usyk scheduled. Lewis got starched by two fringe contenders, Fury's undefeated. He's been on course to finish ahead of Lewis since Wilder 2 at the latest.

It's just a mindless copypasta of your deity gasmanstrikes back, who a few years ago said that Fury would be a "1st rate ATG" with just three more wins: Wilder, Whyte and Joshua

He didn't believe Fury could accomplish that much or better, hence he's since moved the goalposts dramatically. Because he hates Fury, just as he hated Wlad and for the same fundamental reason.
