Oh Man there were some ripper threads in the Old Lounge back around 2009/10/11 LOL

I remember arguing with some dude for a few pages in general forum years ago because he swore black & blue “Mike Tyson beat Lennox Lewis in the rematch”

    You cant teach stupid...

Foreman Hook had a few absolute ripper posts back in the day, became like the original Troll

    Top 10 is certainly fair.

Ali not giving Foreman a rematch is a far more black mark than Dempsey not fighting Wills.

I don't recall whether I read this at the time it was originally posted or, as and when it has resurfaced in subsequent threads, since then.

In any event, I do recall that my 'Nutbar' alarm went off, in no uncertain terms, when I saw it the for the first time.

It was like reading an excerpt from a scripted narration - for a movie of epic proportions, worthy of a John Williams score in background (perhaps Raiders of the Lost Ark-esque).

Still - I generally found Perry's posts fun to read, even though I don't recollect actually exchanging views with him.

He was obnoxious and called me and other posters a lot of dumb names, but I always found it amusing. I hope he's ok and doing well.

Ron Lipton got really creepy after a while. I remembered him as a referee. I never saw him here. But he posted on another boxing board I was on. He hated the Mercantes. Claimed they had blackballed him in New York. Kept posting photos of himself shirtless working out. I think he knew the guy who owned the site. When he was going on one of his tirades about being a great ref banished I think I said something like I didn't think he was any better than Vic Drakulich (who refereed on Tuesday Night Fights alot back then) and to put a shirt on. He lost it. (LOL) They ended up closing their forum. Weird times. Weird guy.

Yeah - he could be a bit sharp, at times - A bit like that Crazy uncle type, who sits in the corner of the room, at family gatherings, getting wankered and randomly piping up with some outrageous comment, throughout the evening.

What a character! I hope he's ok and doing well, too.

It sounds like an alter ego account of tge chris eubank worshipper and impersonator.

Most of us have been on and off boxing forums for 20 years plus now.Theres certain characters and patterns you recall.

One forum had this crazy Aussie in his mid 20"s who argued with conviction he thought he could handle "a 69 year old Earnie Shavers without too much trouble".

Lipton was on here for a little while under some pretend account. He started off praising Ron Lipton as a fighter, referee, human being etc while claiming not to be him. He and Klompton got into it as they had bad blood from another site. It was an epic brawl that descended into insults about marital status. Anyway the thread got closed down, the original Klompton got a permanent ban and about half a dozen other posters who were barely involved (including yours truly) received lengthy bans as well. It was a pretty big fall out.

I always laugh when it come to Lipton. I read an interview where he was asked to share an anecdote about Hurricane Carter and he proceeded to tell a story of himself hunting with the most powerful cross bow that only someone with strength like Ron could pull and fire accurately and how Rubin looked on with rapt admiration. It had barely anything to do with Carter at all lol

    Weird guy is accurate!

Here it is JT the anecdote in question is a few questions and long winded responses in.

In actual fact I sold Ron a fair bit short with my recollection of it. He’s even better than you and everyone thinks!!

Edit:- I’m now wondering whether Ron is/was Perry.
