The whole night was really embarrassing for Golden Boy. Anyone happy about payin' $$$ for this crap? Hopefully they realize we need at least 2 main events for future PPV's. Imagine....same night, same place....Hatton/Pacquiao.....then......Calzaghe/Dawson. I'd pay.
This is without a doubt the worst PPV event I have EVER ordered, totally worthless. Undercards were crap and then...ODLH quits. Manny beat him and is obviously the better fighter but what gets me is that Oscar never even tried!
I watched the replay online as well as the undercards, usually the bigger the hype the bigger the letdown, most casual fans will see this and will not see Vasquez vs Marquez or Cotto vs Margarito. I only enjoyed it because I really wanted Pac to win.
The only good fight was that last. I enjoyed watching Oscar lose. I like Oscar actually but I preferred Manny to win. The rest of the fights sucked balls. Especially the JML Medina one.
All the fights were one sided but in fairness to Golden Boy Promotions the Pac, JuanMa and Ortiz fights, on paper, were meant to be more competitive than they actually were.
The undercard was just Golden Boy showing off their prospects, they wern't competitive bouts so that was disapointing, making it a poor undercard, despite the names.
i downloaded but...i wouldn't of been dissapointed, some of my favorite fighters were on the card but yeah, they were all shutouts, Ortiz needs to be fighting top 10 guys now.....he's too good to be fighting bums he'll just end up shutting them all out and Juanmas too damn strong, fast, and skilled....the only fighters that will give him a good test are the big shots of the division, Vasquez, Marquez, and Cabalerro (howeva thats spelled)
Bottom line, Manny saved this PPV and saved what would have been a huge black mark for boxing. I cannot believe that is the best they could do for the undercard. Yeah, I know they wanted to show off their prospects, but the truth is, we didn't get to see them really fight. No one who watched the ppv last night know anything about Lopez or Ortiz, other than they fought really weak opposition. I continue to say this, UFC from top to bottom puts on much better ppv's than boxing. Boxing needs to change their thought process on their undercards. Last night was embarassing. Fortunately, Pacman gave us a performance to remember.
