exhibit A: The fight was stood up when he had a dominant side control, and could have been about to end the fight, yet showed no consternation at all - that was suspicious.

exhibit B: He was not putting anything into the ground and pound in round two. Say want you want about how he's technically inept and fights like an enraged baboon, but he is a huge strong guy who could of, I think, brutalized Kimbo from that position.

exhibit C: The ear. Was it left like that coming into the fight as a possible reason for a timely stoppage? :huh This is veering into conspiracy theory land, but, you know, humor me.

conspiracy people crack me up. There was crap for action so thy stood them up like they usually do so people dont boo. Kimbo withstood his elbows because he is tough period. The only thing wrong was the ref should have let Kimbo nail him again to finish it but he pulled that same crap earlier in the night.

Oh shut up you primate; I pre-emptively (pseudo)-apologized for that.

Fights dont get stood up from side mount. Ever. You people who cite precedent crack me up. Especially non-existant precedent. Are you on drugs?

Sure. Those feather dusters would have killed a mere mortal :-(

Clearly not, he fought with all he had.

Have you seen him before? That was typical James Thompson.

The ear grew significantly from the weighin, which means it was still bleeding and not ready to be drained, it would have needed clips to be put in place for a few days.

    lol

I say you make a very good case. How far is Gary Shaw willing to go? Did he actually have Thompson injected with the infection approximately one week ago? Was it allowed to go without treatment and pass medical examination just so it could lay in wait until that exact moment. . .

I was thinking the same thing. If it had been lanced eariler in the week - there's no doubt that the fight would have been cancelled.

Okay I can tell you're pretty new to MMA, but inaction on the ground is dealt with with a stand up when something is in a very tight but inactive guard and **** all is happening g'n'p or positioning-wise.. Fights do not get stood up from the side-mount. You're wrong. Accept it and grow as a person. :yep

Sure, he sucks. But when he had Kimbo's (right, I think?) arm trapped from that crucifix position he could have smashed him. I can't believe a guy that size couldnt do any damage from being in that position for so long.

    Clearly a poor troll.

The only other fight I can think of in the history of MMA stood up from sidemount was, ironically enough another crooked fight to build up another big promotional hyped up Heavyweight, even more ironically it Kimbos coach, Bas was underneath TK getting beat on for the entire fight, then gets stood up with TK in sidemount pounding his head.

Bas then went on to win a crooked decision against Kevin Randleman.

I see now why hes Kimbo's coach, helping him deal with crooked fights.

I actually wondered if Thompson was in on it when I watched the fight today at my friend's house.

I think there's a damn good chance he was.

Let's not forget Renzo Gracie getting stood up from the knee-on-belly on Frank Shamrock during the inagural Elite XC event.

I think it was a fix. There were times he looked like he was holding back in strength, speed and power. Sometimes Kimbo pulled off moves that looked choreographed.

There was one stage where Thompson beat on him for ages at the end of the round so it makes me wonder if it was a fix cos a stoppage was possible. He did look angry about the stoppage but could have been good acting. Ref may have been in on it cos he didn't stop it when Kimbo did nothing for 30seconds. CBS changed the camera angle when Kimbo looked in trouble.

Smells a bit fishy to me.

Thompson is a joke. I have seen him fight a few times and he is awful. If he spent less time getting fake tan he could be average but at the moment he is walking around expecting to get raped.
