I don't know if I'm joking or not.... but there were several times that I saw Thompson after the fight, where I thought to myself, "I do believe that guy might be mildly ******ed". Not in a "he sucks" kinda way, but in "butter the bread and then put in the toaster" kinda way.

I was just saying to a few family members/ friends, that I think the ear was "the ace in the hole" to burst open if kimbo needs a bailout to get a stoppage. this would mean that thompson was in on it and got paid handsomely. what other rational explanation is there for coming INTO the fight with an ear full of blood ready to explode? I mean that thing could have been lanced and bandaged before the fight.

edit: even if it were still bleeding internally, couldn't the ear have been cut and drained (and bandaged)? wouldn't that have been better than allowing it to explode which they had to realize was a very real possibility? if the ear was that bad and couldn't be drained etc, than a smart fighter would postpone the fight if he wants to win.

Excellent! I am so glad someone else remember the atrocities committed reffing and scoring Bas's short run in the UFC.

If you are in half gaurd or beyond you should never be stood up...period. Unless it is an EXTREME case, like Pualo Filho holding mount for about 7 minutes without landing a strike in that one fight.
