A big yes! Tito was one of the best welters. One fight I would of love to have seen, would of been... Trinidad vs Mosley.
Ok I'll give you that. Tito beat 3 gold medalists(including Oscar). 16 defenses of his welterweight title. He along with Delahoya has one of the best resume's in Boxing, beat several undefeated fighters. Oscar, Carr, Vargas, Reid. He beat Pernell more decisively than Oscar did. Moved up weight classes and knocked out reigning champions. Oscar at no point was considered P4P the best fighter in Boxing.
Hell yes!!! Tito won titles up to middleweight - that's not luck - it's hard work and dedication. He convincingly beat Pernell Whitaker and basically sent him into retirement, battered Fernado Vargas into submission, ruined olympic medalist and WBA champ David whatisname, and came back after the Hopkins loss to have a FOTY battle with hard hitting, iron chinned Mayorga. Tito is one of the greats. How high he ranks is up for debate.
but he also showed weaknesses as oscar did. both tito and oscar had excellent resumes but that also showed their weaknesses too. they should get all the credit in the world for leaving no doubt where they stand in the bigger picture, but neither oscar or tito are great fighters. HOF hands down but neither are great.
I disagree:bart Tito wasn't a great fighter? So you're telling me he accomplished what he did off his BOXING SKILLS?:blood FIGHTING was Tito's game. To out FIGHT you. He wasn't really a Boxer. He wasn't technically great at movement, or combinations, or smarts. He was a FIGHTER. That's what he did. For you to say Tito wasn't a great fighter is absurd.
i said that wrong. tito was a great fighter. but he wasnt a complete one and he wasnt a great fighter in terms of the bigger picture in boxing.
Ok. I'll give you that. I forgot that. You got me there. Good stuff:thumbsup But his era still consisted of Roy Jones, Lennox Lewis, Tito, Hopkins, & Mosley. So he didn't hold on to it for that long.
