A victory over George Foreman alone is enough to make boxing history remember Tommy "The Duke" Morrison.
It was a win for the WBO world champion, a title that wasn't a major world title then (1993) but is now.
George Foreman is an ATG heavyweight, many will agree that he is a Top 10 ATG heavyweight, and Tommy "The Duke" Morrison has a win over him.
Let's not forget that George Foreman has 5 losses in both careers, one of which is a robbery. The other 4 losses were inflicted on him by: Muhammad Ali, Jimmy Young, Evander Holyfield, and Tommy "The Duke" Morrison.

Underachiever for sure, just imaging if he took it more serious because he came further than most with the crazy lifestyle he had.

Would he have beaten LL or Mercer, probably not but it’s a few loses on his record that was just because of lack of commitment. I wish we could have had a little more of Tommy, he was always in fun fight and even with his wild life style he always seemed like a nice guy.

He had an elite left hook and power, his combination punching and handspeed were also above average. But as others have said he had weak chin and a leaky defence. I agree with the poster who said he isn't overrated or underrated, he's never going to be the top man due to his weaknesses which are glaring.

As for how he would do in today's era ? He has a glimmer of a chance vs Joshua. Due to Joshua being a bit vulnerable to left hooks, we all see what Ruiz did to Joshua. But Ruiz also had a much better chin than Morrison, so more than likely Joshua would finish off Morrison before he has a chance to land the left hook. He also doesn't beat Wilder, Fury, or Usyk IMO.

In today's climate? He would be expertly maneuvered into an undefeated career, fighting past prime and no hopers, 20+ million a fight, yet never facing the best and his fans would argue he is an ATG.

He was an underachiever and for the reasons listed. I think getting hooked up with Stallone for a movie was horrible for his boxing career, it didn't do Tarver any good either did it? I've told this story before about how Tommy came to Knoxville TN to work with Ace Miller on his defense, fighters told me the only thing he worked on was prostitutes and snorting dope at the Sheraton hotel. I don't know how good his chin really was or could have been due to him preparing for bouts with women ,coke and liquor . I think he could have been better but he was never going to be on a Lennox Lewis, Tyson or Holyfield level.

Came here to say this, he achieved what he was supposed to achieve given his talents. It's not always a case of over or under achieving.
