Was tonight proof that a pre margarito Cotto would have beaten Floyd?

No he couldn't. His chin and strength were even weaker at 140. He got stronger at 147 because he was no longer killing himself to make weight.

And Floyd at 140 was still prime and incredible. When he moved up to WW, not as much. That's when Cotto would always have his best chance. But even then, I wouldn't count on it. Floyd during those early-mid WW years would have just pot-shot/run most likely.

This is probably the best cotto has ever been, watch the fight again. look how he maintained pressure, when he was pressured by floyd he kept his cool also. Another thing is he clinched which is something he rarely did in past fight. That new trainer was very beneficial to his success last night.

No, They would have used 8oz gloves and Cotto would have been beat worse.

As a fan of Cotto's it did raise the question. Look, Mayweather would be favored any
time these two met. Would Cotto have been more aggressive? Undoubtedly. Would that aggression have been more effective against a faster Mayweather? As much sat it pains me, unlikely.

No, people put way too much emphasise on that fight, he looked at the top of his game last night considering he was in with the best fighter in the world.

Yea definitely. Floyd is almost the same fighter he has no wear or tear, just slightly slower and takes more risks because he has to, not like he says cuz he wants to. Im a fan of both, but whether you think he'd beat both or not Floyd never took on his contemporary elites which were Cotto and Margarito yrs ago instead taking less risks with Judah and Baldomir. Also Cotto was a more powerful puncher back then. Amazing Floyd still fighting close to his prime at 35. Cotto would of actually done much better and Floyd might of won by a SD or a controversial decision. If not in Vegas Cotto might of beat Floyd in PR.

Anyone who thinks Cotto is past it while Floyd is NOT is full of ****, Floyd has definitely lost a step, Cotto might actually be better, at 140 Arum said Cotto wasn't ready for Floyd, that should tell you all you need to know.
