Was Tyson all natural ability or was he a 'student' of the game?

For example, did he do what say Wlad and Vitali do and study opponents prior to fights to determine their style, strengths and weaknesses?

Did he have game plans? Or a mixture of natural ability plus study?

Tyson is even more than that, hes a very very well versed boxing historian.
Him and Cus would watch endless hours of tape on the legends of old.

Not saying his style/ability wasnt completely his own though, but he did intensively study boxing.

Both, I think Tyson would make a great trainer.

Both. He is a boxing historian and film junkie. I would venture to say that his decline came when he began relying more on his natural ability than the techniques that helped propel him to the top.

    Both.

The natural traits Tyson possessed were a rarity.

But the knowledge he gained, was just as rare.

That man really needs to write a f**king book.

He said at the age of 16 and upwards to winning a title, all he did was eat and sleep boxing, with a huge fight film material up in Cus mansion.

Both, in amazing amounts. He was strong and fast guy naturally, but Cus was sunlight to that tree. He understood every past great, and as is said above, in fights like in Tokyo we see what he would have been without Cus, a headhunter with no defense instead of the killing machine he had been disciplined into.

Tyson was blessed with SPEED and power...He was a natural born killer in the ring. Tyson at 6'2 would have been pure evil.

No fighter at or near the championship level (or even in a gym) relies on athletic ability alone.

Tyson is perhaps the most famous prizefighter who is a true scholar of boxing, his knowledge goes way back til the bare knuckle days...

Nah, he was perfect at 5'10. His head movement and speed coming in was so fast and precise, taller fighters would need to hug him to try and slow him down, ala Bonecrusher.
