IMO, he had two issues outside the ring. One was drinking due to his mental problem. The other was simply the fact that he was so large. He grew up a bully, and bullied his early opponents. When he began fighting quality, from Wlad onwards, he lost his ability to bully guys around . He has (Or had,) very good boxing skills. Great movement for a big guy.
Nah, let people call me out it's fine I seen Fury getting blasted repeatedly by Aj fans and others who hate him. I don't like mob mentality, so I backed my horse, but it was wrong for me to troll and play down usyk, I admit that It is what it is
and what was that really? one guy feinting to avoid engaging, and the other guy mesmerized by a frickin feint? fury threw 9 punches a rd. horrible fight, especially for the hw championship of the world. what other fight are you going to compare that to?
Wlad was 39! Before you try to say he wasn't that shot go look at his punch stats in that fight! From memory Wlad attempted something like 12 power punches in the whole fight "After 12-rounds of inept boxing, two things are clear. Wladimir Klitschko won't fight and Tyson Fury can't fight"
He is very good but Usyk is better. I also think he is physically past it now. His beard is getting all grey and he can’t get himself into great shape anymore. Maybe an AJ fight for good measure but otherwise he better calls it a career. He has been a great entertainer though.
If he was going to come in heavy he should have gone balls to the wall from the beginning right? He was inevitably going to tire in the second half. He kind of fought to not get knocked out but make it competitive in the later rounds. Not bad strategy but I’d have preferred for him to go guns blazing knowing if he doesn’t succeed he would be stopped for sure.
Says everything about Fury that you’re having to mention Pajkic, Cunningham, Schwarz and then Wach, who he hasn’t even fought, on a list of wins just to make it more than a couple of names. His record is terrible.
what made it a great win? wlad was 3 years older than fury is right now. punches were hardly thrown. fury tested hot for peds. fury skirted the rematch. what, in your honest opinion, made this a great win? i am honestly interested in why some people think a fight like this, is an accomplishment on par with other great hw title wins.
He had all the talent and physical attributes to make a noise that would resonate throughout the history of the sport. He could have been spoken about long after every man, woman and child living today are long gone and forgotten. His size coupled with his uncanny movement, decent ring IQ, grittines, and recouperative abilities could have taken him to heights very few athletes have achieved. Oh, let's not forget, he has a knack and personality that grabs the attention of fans and haters. He had as close to the total package going into the sport than anyone in any sport has ever had. And yet, he blew it. Historians would have needed to either rewrite history, by removing someone from the mount Rushmore of boxing or add him as the fifth face on it.
It was a great win because Klitschko was the unified champion and the best heavyweight at the time who hadn't lost in 11 years. Of course there have been better wins than that but to suggest that it was just some average win is delusional. Fury was also a big underdog going into that fight.
He was and is very good. But he does not belong into the same sentence as Usyk, Lewis, Holmes, Ali, Vitali Klitschko or Wladimir Klitschko and George Foreman and Holyfield. I would like to see him have fight with Riddick Bowe or Tony Tucker. It would be super fun fights.
